Last year in Strath Haven,  Vikings of Upper Merion battled to the end of the first round playoff game but came up just short.  After the game, Head Coach Victor Brown had some kind worlds about his offensive line. “We’ll be back” he said, “this line comes back and it’s one of the best I’ve ever coached.” One key component is 6’2 270 lineman Stefano Nikolaou.  He helped pave the way for a backfield did fairly well in 2019, and they’ll be the key to holding down the offense this season while breaking in a new quarterback.

Stefano has had interest from several schools such as Alvernia and Gettysburg, but Red Devil program of Dickinson that impressed him the most. “I committed to Dickinson because I absolutely loved everything about the College. It is a great academic school along with a great football program. I know that we will be successful in the coming years” said Stefano. He made his announcement on twitter tonight:

“Dickinson is on the rise. The staff is very focused on winning. To top that, Dickinson’s facilities are second to none. ” He’ll line up on the offensive line, which is no surprise here. He’s got a strong motor and can move people out of the way. “Dickinson is on the rise. The staff is very focused on winning. To top that, Dickinson’s facilities are second to none,

Nikolaou says it was the professionalism that Coach Glennon showed him that also played a part in making his decision. His “tell you how it is no matter what” attitude is something that impressed also.  He also said that his parents gave him freedom to make his choice of college, and they respect his decision. “My dad is my mentor. He was a coach for me in youth and has always pushed me to be my best” so the support for his decision from them is pretty important. “I’m looking forward to winning championships

As far as the recruiting process goes, Stefano said the Covid 19 situation didn’t really affect his decision. ” I was fortunate enough to visit many schools prior to the pandemic. Dickinson was one of those schools. During the pandemic I took place in many zoom calls with a variety of schools. The recruiting process was enjoyable for me. I met a lot of great people along the way. ”

“To my teammates, you guys are my brothers for life. I will never forget the memories we have made together. Hopefully we get to create more this year. Thank you to all of the Upper Merion community and everyone that has come out to support the team on Friday nights.”
