Coach Donnelly says “Dan will be a three-year varsity player and is the leading tackler returning from last year’s team with 90 tackles and 12 TFLs. Dan has 149 career tackles and was an all-league selection last season. He has an innate ability to diagnose plays quickly. Dan is an extremely smart football player and is an absolute technician from his weakside LB spot. He has worked extremely hard in the weight room this off-season. We expect him to come in at 205 lbs and lead our defense again this year”!

LET’S GET TO KNOW DAN

How long have you played football, and what keeps you playing?

I’ve been playing football for 12 years and I just love the game, everything about it, the excitement it brings, and the brotherhood you form with your team keeps me in it.

What have been your favorite and least favorite moments when it comes to playing sports?

I think My favorite moment when it comes to sports, is winning the big games and my least favorite moment is losing games that you know your team should have won.

Which win from 2022 will you remember the most?

The win I’ll remember most was our first game of the year against Chambersburg. We were fortunate to get a spot in their Peach Bowl showcase and we won our game. On the day of traveling to the stadium, the game-time atmosphere was great, and celebrating the win afterward with the guys was a blast.

How would your coaches and teammates describe you?

I think they would describe me as a Leader. Not only do I lead by example but when it’s time to be vocal I will be. I would do anything for one of my teammates.

After the season is over, how much will it mean to you to be invited to play in the Big-33 or East vs. West All-Star game?

It would mean the world to me. I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game and to play in a game of that magnitude would be a great accomplishment.

What one rule in high school football would you change?

The rule I’d change is probably the Eye black rule or no bands rule. Look good play good, come on now!

With this being your senior season, have you approached things differently than you have in the past?

Yes, I definitely have. With how fast Freshman thru Junior seasons flew by it reminds me to take nothing for granted and to really live in the moment no matter what I’m doing. Whether it’s lifting, practicing, playing, etc. it’s my last time doing it with this team and I have to make it count.

Which position do you like playing the most? Explain.

I enjoy playing Linebacker the most. I always have been a defensive guy even from early on in my football career. I like being the one who does the hitting. Also, being able to play free and find the football.

Where should the state finals be held?

I think Cumberland Valley does a nice job of hosting the State Final. I like what they do with the lights after a touchdown.

Have you heard from any college coaches about playing at the next level? If yes, would you name one or two of the schools?

Yes, I have heard from coaches. Schools from all levels D1, D2, and D3.

What is the best piece of advice you have received when it comes to football, and who gave you the advice?

The best piece of advice I have received is probably from one of my coaches, Coach Moose. His quote is “you don’t have to do this, you get to do this.” I love it because every time I start feeling sorry for myself I remember I get to do this. Not many people get the chance to play football after high school. I get to do this and might as well have the time of my life doing it.

If you mess up a play, what will your coach yell at you?

“Leverage Voge” -Coach Riley.

MMA or boxing?

Probably MMA, Nothing beats buying an MMA PPV and watching it with your friends.

What is a secret talent you have that would shock others?

I’m a great whistler.

What toppings and crust go on your perfect pizza?

Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Spatolas is my perfect pizza.
