This hard working athlete said that his goal for this team next season is to be the “best west ever,” meaning winning their league, district, and the state.

LET`S GET TO KNOW Dean Hangey

Why did you start playing football?

I started playing football at 6 years old and I wanted to play because I loved watching the NFL and college football.

Who is toughest player you went up against?

The toughest player I went against was Bo Horvath from Downingtown East. Lots of our game plan week 10 was the East run game and Bo.

Position you play and why you chose it?

Wide Receiver and Safety. I’ve always wanted to play receiver since I was little. I love when I’m one on one with a defensive back and give the opportunity to take a catch to the end zone. I like playing safety because I’m the last line of defense. I like anticipating picks and big hits.

If you could play any other position on the field what would it be?

Another position I would want to play is running back.

Favorite pre game hype song you listen to?

My Favorite hype song is Dreams and Nightmares.

What has playing high school football meant to you?

It’s the most fun thing in the world. I love playing on Friday nights along side my best friends and playing for Downingtown. I also love the off-season grind when our team comes together to work towards the goal of being the “best west ever.” This year being the best west ever would mean going to the state championship game, a step farther then the 2019 district championship team. When we are working out as a team and individually we have this goal in the back of our minds knowing we have to be all in to achieve our goals. High school football has helped me build strong life long relationships and tendencies that will carry me throughout my whole life.

Is there any player you model your game after or look up to?

I look up to all the guys who played before me and mainly the guys on the 2019 district championship team. Coach Milano preaches how there hard work got them there championship and the expectation to become a championship team. We know we need to adapt that mindset of being all in to achieve our goals for this season.

Favorite pre game hype song you listen to?

My Favorite hype song is Dreams and Nightmares.

Favorite pre game/post game meal?

My favorite pregame meal is eggs, bacon, and toast in the morning. I then like to eat chicken and rice with a gatorade before a game. Postgame I like any Wawa hoagie and lots of Gatorade.

Favorite high school football memory

Last game of my junior regular season vs Downingtown East our rival for the league championship. We fought hard and came back after being down at halftime. One of our goals was to win that game so it definitely felt good when we ended up on top of the league.

Favorite nfl/college football team?

I am a huge Eagles fans and a Penn State fan.

What would it mean for you to play at the next level

It’s been my goal ever since I started playing football to play at the college level. You get out what you put in so I will definitely be grinding this off-season to achieve my personal goals.
