Coach says “Ben is an outstanding all around football player who leads by example on our line on both sides of the ball. Through his hard work he has continued to improve every year physically and a football player. He was an all league selection as a junior and is poised for even bigger things”.
LET’S GET TO KNOW BEN!
Why do you play football?
I play football because it is the ultimate team sport. I love the physicality of the sport and how it challenges your toughness when you are tired.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
Aaron Donald because of his work ethic and how he was never the biggest, but he used that to his advantage.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
Jet sweep during my first varsity start at OT sophomore year. Coach Graham called a jet sweep in the first quarter. I remember getting out onto the DE, getting across his body, and pancaking him.
What was last years season like for you?
It was a big steppingstone for our team and me.
What are your goals for this coming season?
Team goal, for our team to have the best season in Penncrest history. Personally, to become All-State and be recognized as Delco Player of the Year.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
Eyan Thomas
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
In 2022 I went to Navy vs Notre Dame. It’s my favorite game because of the atmosphere and the tradition that surrounded the game.
What would you do to improve the recruiting process?
Educate high school athletes on how to best use social media in order to get the word out about themselves during the recruiting process.
Describe what the perfect teammate is
Someone who wants to see you succeed but also holds you accountable for your mistakes.
Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community
Football helps bring the community together in support of their local high school team, cheerleaders, and band. It gives people a chance to socialize and have fun together.
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
Play in the NFL.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
My neighbor Mr. Gault. He is a great person who has taught me a lot of lessons and given me guidance that I carry with me every day. I hope to do the same when I get older.
What is your favorite practice drill? What is your least favorite practice drill?
Favorite drill would be our pass rush drill. Least favorite drill would be our double team drill, but I want to be great at it.
Preseason Two a Days are:
A good test to see how you perform when you are tired.
Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?
My grandparents. They text me good luck and always watch my games on YouTube.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
Cooking. I enjoy cooking new things that I haven’t cooked before. I also enjoy learning how to refine the things I already know how to make.
What is your favorite play to run?
Any type of screen because I get to hit someone other than a lineman.
Music of choice:
Country
Best thing you ever got from a teammate? Why?
Best Pizza topping?
Mushrooms
What is your favorite vacation destination?
