LET’S MEET DEACON
Why do you play football?
I play it because I love the game. I’ve been playing since I was five years old, starting with flag football then going to tackle football. I love playing with my friends. I’ve been playing with these same guys for years. My dad was a football guy, he played in college and he’s now one of our coaches. I was just raised around football.
What was last season like for you?
It was different than the previous two. I hadn’t gotten a lot of varsity time on offense my freshman and sophomore years. I took on a bigger role this past season. It was definitely a great experience playing in these environments.
What are your goals for this upcoming season?
I want to win. Our goal is to win the PAC championship. It’s something that we haven’t won in a long time. I think we have a really good team this year. Personal wise, I think it would be great to break the school rushing record, held by Matt Garcia. But I’m more of a team first guy and I want to win.
What do you look forward to most on gameday?
Definitely the team dinner we have after school where we’re all sitting around eating. It’s like three to four hours before kickoff. It’s nice to talk with my friends sitting around the table.
What is your favorite play you have made?
Anything on the outside. I like running sweep. I like running counter too. We have very good guards I like following them.
What stadium would you love to visit for a game?
It would be nice to play at Beaver Stadium
What is favorite pro team?
Any Philly team but especially the Eagles.
What is your favorite football game you’ve ever watched?
Part of me has to say the Eagles vs Patriots Super Bowl. But also for college I would say the Penn State vs. Wisconsin 2016 Big Ten Championship when Penn State came back.
Who is your mentor?
My father because he played and he’s our offensive coordinator. He’s helped guide me a lot. And obviously he’s my dad.
What is your favorite sport other than football?
I run track and field but my favorite sport to watch is baseball.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of sports?
Hanging out with friends.
What is your dream vacation destination?
Somewhere in the Caribbean.
Wawa or Sheetz?
I’m a Wawa guy. I had Sheetz when I was at Penn State for a camp and I wasn’t a big fan of it.
