Coach Says: Luke returns as a defensive starter and will play OL for us this year too. Luke has been an amazing contributor on and off the field for our program. We are excited to see him have a great senior season.
Why do you play football?
I play football because I love competing and playing a physical game with my friends. Football is the ultimate team sport, and I like working together to reach one goal—winning. The work we put in together, the trust we have in each other, and the memories we make are what make football my favorite sport.
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
On game day, I’m just excited to get out there with my teammates and compete. We put in a lot of work all offseason and every week, so it’s fun to see it all come together. I love playing for my team and doing whatever it takes to help us win and have a great season.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
My favorite athlete is Jalen Hurts because he always fights through adversity. Even after getting benched in college, he kept working and never quit on himself or his team. I like how he puts winning first and leads by example. That’s the kind of player I want to be.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
My favorite play was forcing a fumble with a big hit on kickoff against Garnet Valley. It gave our team a lot of energy, shifted the momentum, and reminded me how one physical play can spark the entire team.
What was last years season like for you?
Last season was a great experience because it was my first year starting on varsity at middle linebacker. I got the chance to lead our defense, and I learned a lot as both a player and a leader. We had a great season, made the playoffs, and I was proud to be part of it. It made me want to keep getting better and help lead our team even further this year.
What are your goals for this coming season?
My goal this season is to lead by example as a senior and help our team continue the success we’ve built over the past two seasons. I want to be a respected leader who holds myself and my teammates accountable, works hard every day, and helps maintain the winning culture that’s been established. Ultimately, my goal is to help our team compete for a championship and make another deep playoff run.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
The best players I’ve gone against were the seniors on our Haverford team the last two years. They challenged me every day in practice and made me a better player. Competing against them helped get me ready for varsity and showed me the level of effort it takes to be successful.
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
Doug Pederson. The Philly Special showed he isn’t afraid to make a bold call when everything is on the line. I respect that confidence and his belief in his players.
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
Notre Dame Stadium
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
Philadelphia Eagles. Go Birds!
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
My favorite game I’ve ever watched was the 2022 NFC Championship Game because I was there in person. The atmosphere at the Linc was unreal, and watching the Eagles win and make it to the Super Bowl is something I’ll never forget. Seeing the fans and the whole city come together made it one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
The Program. It captures the intensity, brotherhood, and sacrifices that come with playing college football. Starting defense… place at the table!
What is your favorite vacation destination?
West Wildwood
