Riding a three-game winning streak, the Upper Dublin Cardinals (6-2) (4-1) traveled to Walt Snyder Stadium to take on host Council Rock North Indians (2-6) (1-4) today in a Suburban One League Continental Conference matchup. The Cardinals starters only needed one half of football to take care of business, as they proved to be too much to handle as they downed the Indians 40-0.
The Cardinals defense forced a fumble when Junior Quincy Pauling stripped Council Rock Norths’ Will Scibona which was recovered by Michael Wright. Upper Dublin Junior quarterback Colin O’Sullivan got the scoring started in the first quarter with a two-yard QB keeper with 8:08 remaining. Senior Kicker Owen Carl would connect with the point after to make it 7-0.

The remaining eight minutes of the first quarter would see both defenses force multiple three and outs before the clock reached zero. At this point I was under the impression that this wasn’t going to be all Upper Dublin. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The second quarter was a pure assault.
Only fifty seconds into the second quarter Upper Dublin found themselves on the ten-yard line and knocking on the door of another score. Junior quarterback Colin O’Sullivan hit Junior wide receiver Griffin Pensabene for the ten-yard score.

Senior kicker Owen Carl would miss the point after but the lead would extend to 13-0. The Upper Dublin defense would force Council Rock to punt. On the very next series the Cardinals would force their way down the field to the three-yard line where Junior quarterback Colin O’Sullivan hit Sophomore Chris Kohlbrenner for another score.

The extra point would be no good however the lead grew to 19-0. Upper Dublin’s defense came up big again when Junior Griffin Pensabene recovered another Council Rock North fumble. This would set up Junior running back Nyfise McIntyre for a six-yard score only a few plays later.

Owen Carl would connect again for the point after, and the lead was now 26-0. On the next series Freshman Dominick Paone found himself on top of another Council Rock North fumble which he recovered. Junior running back Nyfise McIntyre would take the next handoff up the gut, bounce off a would-be tackler and scampered sixteen yards for the touchdown. The extra point would be good, and the lead was extended to 33-0.
Man oh man!!! 16 yard scamper for Upper Dublin. Extra point is good. @UpperDublinFB 33@CRN_Football 0@PaFootballNews pic.twitter.com/EbHu7ExcYc

With only fifty seconds remaining, the Cardinal defense came up big again and forced Council Rock North to punt. The Cardinals would take over at their own forty. On the very next play Nyfise McIntyre went sixty yards untouched to pay dirt. The extra point would be good, and the lead now stood at 40-0.

The last play of the half came with 36 seconds to go when Junior Djevanni Cerisier picked off Council Rock’s Jackson Farley. Upper Dublin would kneel to end the half.

The third quarter saw Upper Dublin utilize their underclassmen which still held strong throughout the entire quarter by not allowing North to advance much further past their thirty-yard line, though Senior running back Gavin Papp managed thirty yards on seven carries in the quarter.
The fourth and final quarter again was all Council Rock North as they somewhat controlled the ground game. Senior running back Gavin Papp took another seven rushes for forty-one yards, but his team was halted in their tracks. With only a few seconds left in the game, quarterback Jackson Farley fumbled, and it was recovered by Upper Dublin’s Sophomore Anthony Verzicco.
Upper Dublin (8-2) (6-1) will end their year with a forfeit win against Hatboro Horsham (0-10) (0-7) next week and Council Rock North (2-7)(1-5) will host Council Rock South (2-7)(2-4).
