ROYERSFORD: Entering Friday night’s District 1 6A Quarterfinal the Central Bucks South Titans were averaging 283.5 yards rushing per game. Friday night the Titans got that execution and then some running the ball on 50 of their 51 offensive play the Titans amassed 350 yards rushing propelling the 5th-seeded Titans to a dominating 35-19 victory over the 4th-seeded Spring-Ford Rams at Coach McNelly Stadium.
“We just like running the ball down people’s mouths, They know it’s coming and they can’t do anything to stop it.” Running back Corey Moore said.
Moore (22 carries 121 yards and three touchdowns) was only one part of a three-headed monster along with Anthony Leonardi (22-146) and Owen Pinkerton (14-83-1).
Paving the way for Moore, Leonardi and Pinkerton were Kieran Padgett, Nick Micewski, Rolan Hess Nick Conte and Collin Goetter.
“It’s the whole team-guys on this offensive line, running backs, our quarterback every player on this team has that edge to them and that’s what makes the run game work.” The Monmouth commit Goetter said of his team’s ground and pound attack.
“We have a lot of experience back on our offensive line, we’ve been riding their backs on what they have been doing all year.” Titans head coach Tom Hetrick said adding “It’s a really cool thing because I’m the Oline coach to coach guys that aren’t really interested in where the football is they just have a job to do, and where the ball is good for the ball but I’ve got a job to do to and I’m going to win this battle. When you get five guys working together like that it’s really special.
Right from the opening kick things were going the Titans way, with the Rams attempting a cross-field lateral that went disastrous for the Rams resulting in Jack Mauz getting control of the ball and taking it from four yards out to give the Titans the 7-0 lead just ten seconds into game.
Once they did get possession the Rams were able to march down the field with a combination of runs by QB Matt Zollers and RB Jamal Lewis reaching the Titan 8-yard line before having to settle for a 25-yard field goal by Liam Mcgarvey
Moore extended the Titans lead to 14-3 with his first touchdown of the night from a yard out. But Zollers and the Rams responded with a one-yard keeper making it 14-10 in the Titans’ favor heading into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Titans got another one-yard touchdown from Moore while the Rams settled for a 35-yard field goal from Mcgarvey.
Titans extended their lead to 28-13 with Pinkerton’s 29-yard touchdown and then to 35-13 with Moore’s third touchdown of the game. Zollers connected with Belal Abdelrahamn for a 15-yard touchdown to make 35-19.
With the victory the Titans improved to 11-1 and will look to gain revenge for their lone loss of the season when they travel to crosstown rival CB West in the District 1 6A Semi-Final next Friday.
