Garnet Valley from start to finish was in complete control of the game. Historically in an Upper Darby Garnet Valley matchup, it has been one that was really close until the bitter end. But tonight, that was not the case. Garnet Valley used their powerful run attack to push the ball up and down the field to beat Upper Darby 61-12. Tonight was Garnet Valley’s best day offensive of the 2021 season thus far. But, Upper Darby were able to come up with a few big plays of their own. Lets go into a deeper recap of each team’s night. . .

Upper Darby got off to a slow start on offense, fumbling the ball one and turning it over on downs, all occurring in their own territory. But, they had one big play where a nice 65 yard run to the house from Montez Ellis got Upper Darby on the board. Also, they had a nice kick return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery on kickoff. Overall, special teams had a nice impact on the game for Upper Darby. However, their defense could not stop Garnet Valley’s ground and pass attack. With the triple option offense, the Royals had trouble locating where the ball was.

Garnet Valley right from the kickoff had a really good day in offense. Jason Bernard had a break out game scoring three touchdown and having over 100 years. Then, their passing attack was on point as well with some spectacular plays between Sean Gallagher and Max Busenkell. Just in the first quarter, Garnet Valley scored 28 points alone. Overall, this was a cure perfect game for this aspect of their team. On defense, they were able to create energy early on by causing two turnovers. This set the tone for how the night was going to go. Nolan Brennan continues to put pressure on the quarter back and got another sack in this game. Also, their entire defensive line had been really good all year long. They did not let Ellis or any other players get loose besides one time.

Garnet Valley will play against Strath Haven at Strath Haven at 7:00 PM. Upper Darby will play at Springfield at 7:00 PM. Both teams still have a long way to go this season with a lot of potential shown on both sides. These next few weeks could make or break someone’s season.
