League: Suburban One-Continental Conference (5A)
(Independent Schedule in 2022-23)
Last Season: (0-8) overall (0-6) Conference
Hatter Notables: This team is a bit of an unknown to me. The Hatters are riding a 13-game losing streak and due to COVID and low numbers had to forfeit the last 4 games of 2021. They will compete under an independent schedule this season which will help as Head coach Ken Remaily and his staff rebuild a once dominant program among the Suburban One League. This is going to be an uphill battle, but I expect them to stay competitive during the year.
Upper Moreland Golden Bears
Head Coach: Adam Beach
League: Suburban One-American Conference (5A)
Last Season: (7-4) overall (4-2) Conference
Golden Bear Notables: HC Adam Beach had this to say, “Heading into this season the Bears have a strong and experienced OL and DL consisting of returning SRs, Chase Ragan, John Baker, Anthony Apice, & Joe Hardy. They will rely on them to win up front until their skill players have time to develop into varsity players.” I do strongly believe even though they have to replace a 1,000-yard passer in Byron Hopkins who was also a threat to run it (483 yds on the ground), look for SR Shawn Herbert to step into the roll nicely. This team has a great chance to be in consideration for a conference title at the end of the season as well as another 4A playoff appearance.
Mayhem’s Prediction: I could see Upper Moreland shaking off a rocky start but settling in and running away with it.
