Owen J Roberts came into this game hot. And I mean HOT. On their first drive they went down the field in a matter of 8 plays they went from their own 29 yard  line all the way to the other endzone to get a quick 7-0 lead over Wissahickon with 8:06 in the first quarter. The score came off a two yard rush by by #3 Hunter Rhodes. After this drive, about everything that could have gone well for Owen J Roberts happened.

On Wissahickon’s first drive they could not get anything going their way. They totaled up negative 3 yards on their first drive with a false start on the punt which pushed them back even more. Wiss forced a 4 and out on Owen J Roberts next drive. A play later they got 39 yard completion that set them up in the RedZone. But two good things can not happen in a row. Wissahickon ended up needing to kick a field goal on a 4th and 16, which Owen J Roberts blocked and returned for 79 yards and a touchdown. This put Owen J up 14-0 with 1:04 left in the 1st.

Wissahickon ended the quarter with two rushes for a combined loss of four yards. After Wissahickon punted the ball at the start of the second, Owen J Roberts struck right again, #85 Colin King were to get his second touchdown of the game this time coming off a 33 yard passing touchdown to extend the lead to 21-0 with 10:29 in the half.

Wissahickon ended their drive with another four and out, this time while trying to punt it ended up being blocked. Owen J Roberts would start their drive at the 36. For the first time of the game Wissahickon had a stroke of luck on defense. Three plays into the drive, #11 Jaden McLean picked the ball off and brought it all the way back to Owen J Roberts 34 yard line. Wissahickon had to call a timeout on 4th and 8 with 6:26 in the half. Right out of the timeout Jaden struck again. This time a 32 yard touchdown brought in for a catch. they went for 2 and failed. 21-6 Owen J Roberts with 6:19 in the half.

The 2nd half ended with Owen J Roberts up 21-6. Minus a few questionable calls, the rest of the half ended pretty bland. Start of the 2nd half was anything but helpful for Wissahickon. Confusion on the opening kickoff led to Owen J Roberts recovering the ball at the 11 yard line. in a matter or 21 seconds Owen J Roberts scored off a 1 yard QB sneak by Michael Reed to get a 28-6 lead with 11:29 in the third.

On Wissahickon’s first drive of the half, they started to move the ball well, until they weren’t. The drive ended in a Interception which was brought all the way back that got called back for a push in the back. Owen J started their second drive of the second half at the 40. A few plays later they struck again on a 37 yard touchdown by Joseph Yellowtail to extend the lead to 35-6 with 3:47 of the 3rd.

With little movement on past drives, Wissahickon put in the backup QB in. #12 Nolan Pounds. Sadly though he wasn’t able to do much either. They got one first down before ending the drive with a Interception on fourth at the 44. the Third ended off the Interception with Owen J up 35-6. The final score came in on a 23 yard touchdown pass to #88 Danny Cashman which was the last score of the game and pushed the lead to 42-6. Running clock was put on after this and most of the bench came in for both teams.

Both teams ended the game with 1 drive each. Nothing happened on both drives which gave Owen J the 42-6 win over Wissahickon. Quarter Back Michael Reed mentioned how they had a better rushing attack this week other then last week which helped open up the offense a little more. He thanked his coaches the most for the win, pushing them in practice and setting their mentality right for the game. Owen J Roberts (1-1) will move onto Avon Grove (1-1) away at 7 PM on September 9th, while Wissahickon (0-2) will move onto Methacton (0-2) away at 7 PM on September 9th.
