POTTSTOWN: When you have a dangerous threat like Mekhi Graham you are going to see a lot of stacked boxes in a effort to stop the run. That’s exactly what the Owen J Roberts Wildcats faced Friday night against the visiting Great Valley Patriots. Yes, Graham still got 127 yards on 19 but was kept out of the endzone. Unfortunately for the Patriots Corey Schock passed for 182 yards and five touchdowns as the Wildcats easily defeated the Patriots 34-14 at Wildcat Stadium.’

“He’s very smart with the ball and makes smart decisions.” Wildcats head coach Rich Kolka said about Schock adding that “They loaded the box up against to try and stop the run and when they do that we have different weapons that can take advantage of that.”

Schock echoed his coach’s sentiment saying “Everyone see Mekhi and they want to get on him, but that doesn’t mean we can’t throw the ball too. We have receivers, we have weapons, we have good pass blocking that’s all we need.”

When asked about his offensive linemen who gave him all the time he needed in the pocket he responded “These guys are big, I love them, they just want to protect me you can’t ask for anything else except a line that loves you.

Schock wasted little time finding the endzone on the Wildcats’ third play of the game he connected with Adam Stahl for a 43-yard touchdown giving the Wildcats the 7-0 lead

Early in the second quarter, Schock found Matt Gregory who made a leaping catch in between two Patriot defenders for a 14-yard touchdown. Schock then found a wide-open Jeremy Daubert for a 6-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 21-0.

The Patriots cut into the Wildcat lead with 44 seconds left in the half when Ty Callahan connected with Cooper Callahan for a 39-yard touchdown.

In the second half, Schock picked up where he left off finding Dylan Drumheller for a 3-yard touchdown.

The Schock-Gregory connection struck again with 2:51 left in 3rd quarter this time Gregory showed off his speed as he raced 48 yards to make it 34-7 in favor of the Wildcats. Gregory ended the game with 4 catches for 67 yards.

Beau Kosmalaski did get the Patriots to within 20 with his 1-yard touchdown run with 2:51 left in the game.

Next week the Wildcats 3-0 head on the road to take on Avon Grove while the Patriots (0-3) will look to get into the win column when they host Methacton. Kickoff for both games is scheduled for Friday at 7 pm.
