At 6-6, 302 pounds Perkioman Valley lineman Will Marotta is an imposing figure.  Two days ago, he chose to commit to Albany. He announced his decision on twitter:

We asked him about that decision:

PFN: How long have you played football?

Will: I’ve been playing since 5th grade so this coming season will be my 7th year.

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Albany?

Will: When I visited it was early but I saw myself spending the next few years there and enjoying it. By going to camps and other schools it just made me feel like Albany felt more and more like home.

PFN: Why commit early?

Will: I felt Albany was an excellent fit for me and a great man once told me when you see the right opportunity pull the trigger!

PFN: Who was your biggest influence at Albany who recruited you?

Will: There was a lot of influences which made me know that was the right decision but the biggest 2 are definitely Coach Davis and Coach Sweeney. After meeting them at campus I could tell they where going to treat me like family and enable me to grow and expand on and off the field.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

Will: They’re going to get someone who won’t quite and will make sure they’re doing everything they can to not only make themselves better, but the team around them as well.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

Will: The recruiting process was very good to me. The recruiting process is usually very stressful to recruits but the coaches recruiting me made it very enjoyable and fun.

PFN: What position were you recruited for?

Will: I was recruited for offensive line.

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Will: The top subject I would like to study at the moment would be criminal justice, but if not that I’d love to go into engineering.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the Albany program?

Will: What’s exciting about the program for me is being able to work with great coaches which I know will make me the best player and person I can be. Also in the years coming Albany will only get better and could possibly be at the top of the CCA in the near future.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in Great Dane land something they’d never know about you until you told them:

Will: Something that people probably wouldn’t know unless I told them would have to be that I’m an huge fisherman and would never refuse an opportunity to get out on a lake.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

Will: The person who influenced me the most would have to be a good family friend by the name Mark Slater. He always asked how football was going and taught me many things that have led to me being in the position I am today.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school team mates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

Will: What I would like to tell my teammates and fans is that I couldn’t have made it this far without them. The only reason I have the passion and drive that I do for football is because the guys who lined up next to me made sure I stayed in line and did what I needed to do. They pushed me every day at practice to bring out the true football player in me. The fans I would like to thank for everything as well. They never left our side, even when we where 0-2 last year they didn’t give up on us and made sure we had support all the way through our season.
