State Champions Imhotep Well Represented on the PFN 5A Coaches Select All-State Team

The Imhotep Panthers in 2023 finished the season a perfect 15-0, as the second team in program history to win a state championship after losing in the finals the last 2 seasons. Led by HC Devon Johnson who earned the 5A Co-Coach of the Year honors they dominated most of their competition this season. Senior DL Jahsear Whittington (15 sacks) was honored as a first team pick as well as Player of the Year. Jahsear recently signed his letter of intent with the University of Pittsburgh. Other first team honors for the Panthers were Senior QB Mikal Davis (3105 combined rushing/passing yards & 34 total TDs), Junior RB Jabree Coleman-Wallace (1902 total yards from scrimmage & 31 overall TDs), Senior TE Johann Hennigan (450 receiving yards & 5 total TDs) & Senior CB Kenneth Woseley, Jr. a recent Penn State signee (5 interceptions & 2 returned for TDs). Junior DE Zahir Mathis (52 tackles, 3 sacks & 1 FF) & Offensive Center Anthony Richardson received 2nd team honors for Imhotep.

Other District 12 players to receive 1st team all-state honors were Malvern Prep Senior OG Logan Demchyk (Harvard) & Roman Catholic Sr. Safety Jah Jah Boyd (53 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 FF & 11 receiving TDs) who recently signed with the Indiana University.

2nd team honors were given to Malvern Prep Sr. OT Peter Jones (Notre Dame signee), Martin Luther King Jr. LB Khalid Bueno & Simon Gratz Freshman Offensive Athlete Hyneef Thomas.

The other Co-Coach of the Year was given to Strath Haven’s Head Coach Kevin Clancy who led the Panthers to the semifinals in 2023 before falling to Imhotep. Coach Clancy led Strath Haven to an impressive 13-2 record.
