Tonight was a battle to make it to the district 1 6A championship game as #2 Perkiomen Valley battled #11 Central Bucks West. With snow flurries and freezing cold temperatures, this was the game where anything could happen. Tonight was the night of upset as Central Bucks West came on top and defeated Perkiomen Valley 14-13.

There was not much action on the offensive side in the first quarter which ended 0-0. Both teams’ defensive lines came to play here tonight as Central Bucks running back Eli Boehm was held to 49 yds, and Perk Valley’s Ryan Kilmer was held to 67 yds. Things started to turn up in the second quarter when Perkiomen Valley’s quarterback Patrick MacDonald threw an interception right to the hands of defensive end Jack Williams, who took it in for a touchdown putting his team up 7-0.

A few moments later, Central Bucks West threw an interception themselves, which set up a 12 yard touchdown run by running back Ryan Kilmer to tie the game up 7-7. After a couple four and outs by both teams, Perkiomen Valley scored again on a 30 yard pass to wide receiver Andrew Keough to put the Vikings up 13-7 after a missed pat at the end of the first half.

The second half was all Central Bucks West due to the work of quarterback Connor McFadden. He had 5 receptions for 116 yards in this game. When discussing the impact that Connor McFadden performance had on this team, coach Rowan said, “He`s done it all year.”

After a physical run by star running back Eli Boehm, McFadden converted a small flat route into a huge yardage play to set the team up to score. Quarterback Ganz Cooper ran the ball in on the goal line to put his team up 14-13 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Cooper threw a 48 yard dime pass to McFadden to what many of us thought would be the play that sealed the game away for his team. However, Cooper threw an interception the very next play. Thanks to Central Bucks West’s outstanding defense, Perkiomen Valley went for an out on that drive and Central Bucks West was able to run the clock out to end the game. CBW will now turn their attention to Garnet Valley as they play them next Friday at 7:00 PM for the District 1 6A championship.
