The Coatesville Red Raiders meant all business when it came to showing who is the superior Raider.  Coatesville never seemed to take their foot off of the gas, even towards the end, where some starters were eventually pulled.

The Red Raiders weren’t going to let that sour taste in their mouth last week go away. They allowed Perk Valley to come within five points in the final minutes of the game last week, so this week it was a statement for them.

“The guys come out here every Friday and exceed our expectations and every week at practice there is nothing hit positive guys working hard and it clearly shows on Friday nights and we are team that gets better every week,” said Red Raiders head coach Matt Ortega.

Coatesville ran all night. Their three-headed monster of Harrison Susi, Ashon Wesley and Bryan Lacey each amassed over 100 yards rushing and adding a score in cap it off. 37-0 is what’s the score was going into the half, in heavily favor of Coatesville.

Ashon Wesley had himself a night with two back to back scores to put Coatesville up 14-0 with 3:38 left in the first quarter. Ridley was held to a three and out on their first two consecutive drives. It was a kind of night where Ridley just couldn’t seem to get things rolling. Susi also connected with James Taylor and Tommy Ortega for scores and Damon Watson score the final TD of the night.

The Red Raiders forced a safety after a bad snap from Ridley that was fumble and kicked out of the end zone illegally, which gave Coatesville a 16-0 lead.  Coatesville’s Nolan O’hara was the anchor of the defense, flying all over the ball and contributing a sack.

Ridley put up 56 points against a potent North Penn team and could only muster 14 points late in the game. The Green Raiders rushing attack wasn’t where it needed to be tonight, Coatesville swarmed every tackle to make sure that would be the trend of the night.

Ridley’s Tahir ‘Tubby’ Mills had a score in the fourth quarter and showed some flashes of his talent, but ultimately held to just 83 yard rushing, nowhere near close to his previous games of 357 and 369 against Conestoga and North Penn. The only Ridley scores registered from Mills’ 11-yard run and a 72-yard bomb from John Heller to Nahaj Saleem in the fourth quarter. By that time, the game was already out of reach.

What sealed the deal was a Heller pass was picked off by Gavin Homnack, Coatesville’s sideline and student section erupted as he took advantage of his given opportunity.

“When you see those young guys go out of there with that passion and you saw the energy on the sidelines and they all just love each other and care for each other. When they got in there they were hungry to make something happen,” said Ortega.

Coatesville will take on Garnet Valley in the District 1 Title game. Garnet Valley who defeated Quakertown 50-39 will look to keep their undefeated streak alive and capture the District title on their home turf.
