Farewell to a Philly Legend: This summer the Philadelphia High School Sports community lost one of all times great with Philadelphia Daily News Reporter Ted Silary passing away. I want to take some space and offer a farewell and thank you to a great man:
When I think about Philadelphia High School Sports the first name that comes to mind is Ted Silary. I first met Ted Silary during my freshman year at Cardinal O’Hara. It was during my sophomore year that I started to explore the possibility of pursuing a career in journalism. After O’Hara head coach Dan Algeo connected me with Ted I started writing for his site. It was because of Ted that my love of writing continued to flourish and throughout my time at O’Hara I continued to write for Ted and developed a friendship with him. Following my graduation, I continued to be a regular contributor to his site. I am just one of many people who got their start in journalism because of Ted. I know I speak for myself and fellow PAFootballnews reporter Anthony Franklin when I say Ted, thank you for everything you have done for us. Thank you for your mentorship, and friendship. Rest well my friend you are missed by all who ever had the pleasure of meeting you. I’ll never forget you, and I’ll miss you dearly my friend
