Yesterday afternoon I made another drive to Bellaire, Ohio to watch Bellaire host a spunky Toronto Red Knights team. Bellaire comes in 1-0 after beating Hannibal River (34-14), while Toronto comes in 1-0, after beating Pepper Pike Orange 33-20. Wanted to say first thanks to my friend Mike Morgan for supplying me with the rosters, for both schools.

Brayden Roth would use the work of his hard-working offensive line to break off a 14-yard run to excite the crowd on the home side. He would later bring them to their feet when he busted free for a 32-yard touchdown run, after Lucas Littell nailed the point after, we had a 7-0. After making fast work of the Red Knights offense the Big Reds special teams took the field only to see Jakob Dowling have trouble hanging on to the high punt from Shane Keenan with the result being a fumble that the Red Knights Aiden Mick pounced on. The ensuing drive turned into seven points when Zane Kinsey connected with Aiden Filby for a 9-yard touchdown pass with Keenan hitting the point-after kick. Bellaire would respond with a 20-yard plus run from Joey Lewis that help set up the 44-yard touchdown catch from Colt Sechrest, after the point after kick the Big Reds had taken the lead back at 14-7, with 2:05 left in the quarter. Sechrest looked very good in the opening quarter as did both of the Big Reds lines.

Facing a fourth and long Bellaire would get a 32-yard touchdown from the speedy Ray’Shad Pettigrew, after another point after kick off of the foot of Littell we had a 21-7 game, with 9:30 left in the half. Pettigrew had the fans around me gasping for air with his play all throughout this one. Not only is the kid fast, but he also seems to have really nice field vision and reads his blocks very well. On the ensuing kickoff

Zane Kinsey fielded the ball and did not stop running until he had returned the ball 85-yards for the score. A bad snap on the point after try left this a 21-13 game, with 9:18 remaining in the electrified first half. Facing another fourth and one head coach Mark Spigarelli and his staff elected to go for it again and that was another smart choice due to the fact that Sechrest again used the nasty work from his lineman to bust free for a long 46-yard run. A bad snap on this point after try left this a 27-13 game, with 7:08 left in the half. A mishap on the snap from the center allowed Jaiden Kesterson and Brenton Naumann to record a 12-yard sack. At the 4:02 mark of the quarter, Lewis scored on a 31-yard run with the point after kick we all of a sudden had a 34-13 game. Jakob Dowling would get a 30-yard pick-six for the Big Reds next score, with the point after kick added the score ballooned to 41-13, with 3:48 left in the half. In the final 56.8 seconds of the half, each team would get one big play. For Bellaire, it was a fumble recovery from

Littell, and for the Red Knights it was a tackle for loss from T’Kai Jett.

With the running clock in the final half, the rest of the contest breezed by but not before we were treated to two more scores. Jaiden Kesterson would go 90-yards on a great punt return, then it was a touchdown run by Dominic Bouscher to give us our final score of 47-20.
