Jaelen Carson had 175 yards receiving and scored four touchdowns.

Hollidaysburg, USO, Serra Catholic, Westinghouse, Clearfield, Chestnut Ridge, Carrick, Central, Perry, Taylor Allderdice, Bishop O’Reilly.  Led by quarterback Collin Johnson, who threw for 6 TDS tying the record by Billy Fessler against McDowell in 2013 and Damion Terry against Central Tech in 2012, the Ramblers pulled away for a convincing 48-14 win on the road. The win by Ramblers over the Sentinels marks the first time since 1991 that Pennsylvania school has beaten them. The Keystone state went 0-21 during that stretch. This sets up a monster matchup next week with McDowell who, ironically, faces Hollidaysburg this week.

Cathedral Prep scored early and often as the Ramblers rolled past Fort Hill 48-14 Thursday night in Cumberland Maryland.

The Ramblers felt no bus-lag after the 4-hour trip south. They built a 34-14 lead by halftime and cruised to the victory.

“Absolutely we’re glad to be back in the win column said Cathedral Prep head coach Mike Mischler. “If anybody was watching our games in the last couple of weeks against the teams we did lose to – We gave up a lot of size on the line, and they had great athletes.”

Collin Johnson had a field day leading the Prep offense going 15-of-20 for 355 yards and tying a school record with six touchdown passes.

“We’ve had a couple of games where things have not been clicking for us,” said Mischler. “It was great to see Collin come out and put the ball on target. Our receivers did a great job to get open. Jaelen is still battling an injury, but he did not look like it.”

Johnson joins Billy Fessler and Damion Terry as the only other two Rambler quarterbacks to do so.

Fessler threw six in 2013 against McDowell, while Terry had his six a year earlier against Central Tech (now Erie High).

Jaelen Carson was Johnson’s favorite target catching eight balls for 175 yards and four touchdowns. All four scores came in the first half. Jack Oedekoven also went over the century mark with 164 yards on six receptions while scoring twice.

Cathedral Prep was forced to punt on their first drive but scored touchdowns on their next six possessions.

Johnson found Carson for a 38-yard score to break the ice. Fort Hill would answer on Breven Stubbs 69-yard run a play later.

“We had a helmet problem on that play that we were not aware of and had ten guys on the field on that long run,” said Mischler. “That was a communication issue that we addressed forcefully at halftime.”

That would be all closer the Sentinels would get.

The Ramblers began to roll as Johnson threw four more touchdowns in the first half of 25, 39, and 24 yards to Carson. He also threw a 59-yard bomb to Oedekoven, and the rout was on.

Johnson threw for 267 yards and five scores in the first half.

Fort Hill was able to stop the bleeding temporarily when Carson Snyder scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.

Snyder led the Sentinels with 63 yards on 15 carries.

Cathedral Prep left no doubt about being the superior team as Johnson found Oedekoven on a 3-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter.

Luke Sittinger would cap the scoring with a 1-yard run on the first play of the final quarter. He led all rushers with a game-high 114 yards on 14 carries.

Fort Hill did not attempt a pass in the second half as the Rambler defense pitched a shutout.

“We played a physical game, and as far as the scheme was concerned we saw some of the wing-t in our scrimmages,” said Mischler.

Cathedral Prep snapped their 2-game skid and prepares for their rival McDowell next Friday night.

“I’m proud of where we are right now,” said Mischler. “The two previous games we would have liked to have at least one if not both. But I’m happy with where we are right now heading into our rivalry game next week.”
