Cambridge Springs Blue Devils
2022 Season – 8-4
Head Coach – Nate Liberty
Key Players Lost – Van Jones (900 yards rushing), (166 receiving) (1 INT), Kaiden Boozer (88 tackles), Brandon Webster (74 tackles)
Key Players Returning – Tristen Mazzadra (61 tackles), (9.5 sacks), Josh Gorton (115 tackles), (303 rushing yards), Preston Gorton (109 tackles), (405 receiving yards), Brett Kania (730 rushing yards).
What to Expect – Cambridge Springs should easily challenge for the District X Class A Title this season with a bunch of talent on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
Cochranton Cardinals
2022 Season – 1-7
Head Coach – Mike Feleppa
Key Players Lost – Dustin Miller, Bryce McDonough
Key Players Returning – Gabe Carter, Cash Morrell
Key Newcomers – Noah Cummings, Walker Carroll, Blake Foulk, Isaiah Long, Dawson Carroll, Blaine Tee, Tim Deeter.
What Expect – Cochranton will look to improve from their 1-7 record in 2022. Coach Feleppa comments that the team needs to say positive throughout the season.
Kennedy Catholic Eagles
Head Coach – John Cox
2022 Season – 2-7
Key Players Lost – Simeir Wade (455 passing yards), (177 receiving yards), (1328 yards rushing, 20 total TDs), Jermaine Dunlap (401 receiving yards, 5 TD), Elijah Smith (79 tackles, 3 sacks)
Key Players Returning – Elias Lawson (94 tackles), Damian Harrison (460 passing yards)
What to Expect – Kennedy Catholic will look to improve from their 2-7 record last season. The Golden Eagles will be without Simeir Wade this season as Wade transferred to Farrell.
Lakeview Sailors
Head Coach – Bill Hickman
2022 Season – 6-5
Key Players Lost – Sean Cole (165 rushing yards), (106 receiving yards), (60 tackles), Cameron Pence (639 passing yards), (304 rushing yards, 14 total TDs).
Key Players Returning – Mitchell Tingley (1201 rushing yards, 8 TD), (119 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 INT), Danick Hinkson (399 yards rushing, 7 TD), (3 INT), Gavin Krupa (65 tackles), Aiden Osborne (54 tackles).
What to Expect – “Looking forward to a special season and competing for a Region and District 10 Title and taking the Program to the next level against some Great Well Coached Teams,” Bill Hickman.
Maplewood Tigers
Head Coach – Jason Wargo
2022 Season – 5-7
Key Players Lost – Ben Giliberto (2120 rushing yards, 20 TD), (84 tackles, 5 sacks), Ethan Peterson (42 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 INT)
Key Players Returning – Dominick Kinney (69 passing yards, 71 yards rushing), Elliot Beuchat (119 tackles, 1 sack)
What to Expect – Maplewood will look to return to play playoffs in 2023 but will have to replace 2000-yard rusher Ben Giliberto who added 84 tackles and five sacks on defense.
Mercer Mustangs
Head Coach – Jeff Lockard
2022 Season – 6-5
Key Players Lost – Jake Burk, Troy Bachman, Nate Haines
Key Players Returning – Daemyin Mattocks (764 rushing yards, 17 TD), Carter Addison (515 yards rushing, 5 TD)
What to Expect – With their entire backfield returning, Mercer will again look to be a threat in the District X playoffs.
Reynolds Raiders
Head Coach – Josh Mull
2022 Season – 11-2
Key Players Lost – Jalen Wagner (2708 rushing yards, 37 TD), Brayden McCloskey (1465 passing yards), (338 rushing yards, 22 total TDs), Haydin McLaughlin (826 receiving yards), (202 yards rushing). Nate Miller, Nate Leksell.
Key Players Returning – Vito Gentile, Andrew McCloskey, Travis Blackburn, Gabe Minjarez.
What to Expect – The defending Region 1 champions have a lot of holes to fill – but coach Josh Mull and the Raiders always find a way to put a good football team on the field. We expect a similar story this season.
Saegertown Panthers
Head Coach – James Wolfgang
2022 Season – 2-8
Key Players Lost – Sully Zirkle (1183 passing yards), (125 rushing yards, 15 total, TDs), (48 tackles), Henry Shaffer (464 receiving yards, 5 TD), (60 tackles), Blake Boylan
Key Players Returning – Aaron Shartle (507 yards rushing), (40 tackles), Porter Brooks (33 tackles, 4 sacks), Reese Wilkinson (207 rushing yards).
What to Expect – With their tailbacks returning, Saegertown will look to improve from a 2-8 campaign in 2022. The Panthers will need to replace their quarterback Sully Zirkle who accounted for over 1300 yards of offense and 15 touchdowns.
