Tonight the Coatesville Red Raiders took on the Downingtown East Cougars at home. Coatesville, who was 6-2 going into this game after a win against Bishop Shanahan, was looking to take down the 7-0 Downingtown East and give them their first lost of the season. Unfortunately, East had other plans tonight. On their second drive of the game, Owen Lammy punched in a 10 yard touchdown to put them up 7-0. With 4:30 left in the first quarter, running back Ayden Harris, ran the ball in for a 1 yard touchdown to put them up 14-0. He finished the game with 37 carries for 97 yards. His teammate, Michael Brown had a great game himself with 8 clutch catches for 66 yards at fullback.

Going into the second half, both teams had an aggressive defense but Coatesville could not compete with East. This power house of a defense was lead by outside linebacker, Ryan Shannon, who had multiple tackles for losses during this game.
With 19 seconds lefts in the third quarter, East’s quarterback JJ Helverson, ran the ball in for a touchdown to put them up 21-0 as the final score. He was 11 for 14 in passes for 103 yards to help his team shut out and shut down the Red Raiders. The Cougars are now 8-0 and head to play their number #1 rival next week, Downingtown West at Kottmeyer Stadium.
