“Caiden has been great for us. His junior year he took a big jump and was dominant on both sides of the ball” said General McLane Head Coach Marshall McCormick. “Unfortunately his junior year ended with an ACL injury. This hindered his recruitment some with most schools saying they needed to senior film from him which we understood. Maine still saw what kind of player he was and offered him. He went out to his official visit last week and loved everything about it. The coaches, campus and team were everything he was looking for and that led to his commitment”

Caiden made his announcement on Tuesday via X:

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Maine before your Sr season?

I choose to commit to Maine before my senior season because I had a great connection with the coaches and when I was on my OV it felt like home.

PFN: Who was your biggest influence there , who recruited you?

The biggest influence was Coach Stephenson, the TEs coach. We talked constantly and created a good connection throughout the whole process.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

They are getting someone who’s coming to come in, put their head down, have a good attitude, and compete everyday.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

The recruiting process has definitely been different for me. Coming off tearing my ACL in my last game this season and going through the rehab has been part of the process. Not many coaches wanted to take the risk, I’m so fortunate that a couple did. Kept the good relationship with Maine ever since they offered me, which led to where I am today!

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

I’m going to be studying exercise science.

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

My Dad played a huge role in supporting me. He supported me throughout the whole process and just wanted me to make the decision that made me the happiest!

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?

The culture that has been built the last couple of years. Everyone is connected and work together. They are very welcoming. Another exiting thing about the program is the coaching staff, they have the right guys who put in so much work!

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?

I’m looking forward to studying and learning a new playbook as well as having to compete for a spot!

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:

I’m good at solving a rubix cube. It’s something I do to stay calm and focused.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

The person who has influenced me the most in my football career is my youth coaches. They’ve always been part of my journey from my 5th and 6th grade year all the way until now!

Why do you play football?

I play football because it’s a sport I fell in love with my 6th grade year and it’s brought me so many friendships and connections with my coaches!

What would you do to improve the recruiting process?

Keeping striving in my rehab and just get back in the field!

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

That they have all shaped me into the man I am on and off the field. Football is a team sport as well something everyone knows you for off the field. They’ve always have all made me a good human and athlete from their support!

What are your goals for this coming season?

To get back and make a deep run in the playoffs with my team for my senior year.

Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community

It brings everyone together. Everyone comes to the games and sees our success as well as what we do off the field. They are always around us and helping out in society.

what is your favorite pregame ritual?

My favorite pregame ritual is always getting a text from my dad either before the game or the morning of the game!
