Late Comeback Comes Up Short For Kennedy Catholic at Iroquois, 14-12 @KCPrideWatcher @IroquoisFB

Iroquois and Kennedy Catholic got off to a sloppy start Thursday night. Trading lost fumbles in the first minute of the game. Iroquois, though, got their offense settled and Michael Hoopsick capitalized with two rushing touchdowns in the first half. From 6 and 39 yards. Kennedy Catholic struggled offensively. Including two interceptions ending drives.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Eagles moved quickly down field after a 4th and 1 stop defensively.  Eagles connected on  27 yard TD pass to Simeir Wade. Following the score, Kennedy Catholic ttempted a two-point conversion. A penalty moved the ball back. The attempt was unsuccessful. Kennedy Catholic trailed, 14-6 with 1:42 left in the game. After a defensive stop, Kennedy Catholic had the ball and moved quickly. Where quarterback Rayvion Wilbon-Venable connected on a 25 yard TD pass to Blaze Campbell. Trailing by 2 with 21.6 seconds left, Kennedy Catholic lined up for two. After dropping back, Wilbon-Venable darted to the left side for the corner of the endzone. But, was bottled up a few inches shy of the goal line. Only able to extend the ball across after coming up short.

A safely recovered onside kick for Iroquois was all that was needed to ensure a 14-12 homecoming victory in their temporary home-away-from-home.
