Maplewood’s Kaleb Donor scores on a 47-yard run late in the first half.

The North Squad rolled up 282 yards rushing, and its defense pitched a shutout as the North earned a 14-0 victory Friday in the 9th Annual District 10 North/South All-Star Game.

The ground game proved to be the ultimate difference in the game as the North Squad had five different players rush for at least 35 yards.

The South Squad was held without a rusher, even hitting double digits.

Both defenses played well to begin the game as two teams were scoreless until late in the first half when Maplewood’s Kaleb Donor broke loose on 3rd-and-long play to score the game’s first touchdown on a 47-yard run.

Donor, Maplewood’s all-time leading rusher, would finish the game with two carries for 50 yards.

The North Squad extended their lead on the first drive of the second half. Corry’s Landen Weis ripped off a 36-yard run on their first snap of the second half to the South’s 11-yard line. Three plays later, he finished the drive with a 5-yard run.

The South Squad’s best opportunity to score in the second half was when Grove City’s Logan Breese connected with Oil City’s Dakota Cole for a 39-yard completion to the North 30-yard line.

In the next play, McDowell’s Anthony Emling intercepted Breese in the end zone ending the threat.

Grove City’s Zack Martin and Lakeview’s Lane Barber also had big receptions for the South of 31 and 23 yards, respectively.

It was the second time in the game Emling had picked off Breese.

Breese went 10-for-17, passing for 116 yards but was intercepted twice.

The South struggled on offense all game long and only managed six rushing yards. Butler’s Justin Kabay led the South with nine yards on four carries.

Weis led the North Squad with 79 yards on carries while also catching one pass for 28 yards. Jack Rimpa of Fort LeBoeuf had 57 yards on six attempts, Erie High’s J.j Woodward chipped in with 43 yards on seven carries.

McDowell’s Chris Juchno completed 4-of-9 passes for 20 yards while adding 35 yards rushing on six attempts.
