Schwartz’s 2 Touchdowns Pave Way for Slippery Rock’s 14-7 Win over Greenville

Sam Schwartz had himself a game for the Slippery Rock Rockets. On offense, and defense, the senior excelled as Slippery Rock would win the Saturday Night clash in District Ten, 14-7.

After a long scoreless run to start the game, Greenville would finally open things up with a 15 yard touchdown pass hauled in by Cael Thurber thrown by Nick Solderich with 1:15 left in the half. But, that lit a spark under the Rockets, and they blasted their way down the field and setup a 2 yard touchdown pass to Schwartz. Tying the game and neutralizing the good spirits of the host Trojans.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair. Neither team really setting up offensively to threaten the sanctity of the endzone. Early in the fourth quarter, Schwartz would pick off a Solderich and race down the left sideline to the endzone for the Rockets.

Greenville wouldn’t go away easily. Driving downfield into the redzone with minutes remaining. A 4th and 4 pass from the ten yard line would fall harmlessly incomplete. Giving Slippery Rock the chance to run out the clock and secure their first win of the season.
