Coach Walkowiak: “Clayton is an old school football player who does not come off the field. He is a regular on offense, defense and special teams. He was a player for us last since who did not miss a snap. His durability is due to an excellent off season commitment to the weight room. Clayton is a hard worker and has a great attitude. He was voted as a captain for the 2022 season. We look forward to him helping lead the team and lineman as he will be a three year started for us this season. ”

LET’S GET TO KNOW CLAYTON

Why do you play football?

I love the sport and I want to play football in college

It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?

The overall atmosphere and running out on the field

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

Ray Lewis, I love his story and his playing style/work ethic

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

When I recovered a fumble I’m my junior year Homecoming game and rushed it for a first down. It took 4 players to tackle me after breaking 3 tackles beforehand. It was my first time actually running with the ballin a game.

What was last years season like for you?

It was my favorite season so far in high school. I was a team captain along side of Matt Machalik, Cole Serfass, and Dan Lucykanish. We had a very good team with some great talent and we all worked very hard no matter what week it was. No matter if we won or lost we all stuck together and came back harder the next week. The line alone always work together and stuck together. I’m happy to be coming into the 2023 season with the same line we had last season.

What are your goals for this coming season?

For Defense – 100+ tackles, 10+ sacks, 15+ TFLs, and a defensive touchdown For Offense – 40+ pancake blocks Overall – District championship and first states win in palmerton history

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

I’d probably say Reese Balk. He’s #69 from Lehighton Area High School and was the best d-tackle/Nose guard I’ve been against so far.

What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?

Penn state, the have arguably the best game day atmosphere.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

Eagles

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?

The Eagles and Chiefs Super Bowl. It was a very good game on both sides of the ball and had even skill set on both teams.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

Either “great job” or “Let’s go”

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

Celebrate after touchdowns

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

If I’m being honest, I don’t really have a mentor. I just try to be a better person day by day.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:

Lacrosse

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

The kids I coach in palmerton booster club. They love coming to my games and they’re always super excited to see me when I go to their practices after I’m finished with mine.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I like to fish or do something with my friends

What is your favorite football memory to date?

Beating Jim Thorpe at home after losing to them the previous season to a game winning interception in the fourth quarter.

What is your favorite play to run?

Loop on defense where the other d-tackle and I cross. The offense normally doesn’t recognize it right away

Music of choice:

90s country + Hank Williams Jr.

What restaurant is your go to when you need a big meal?

McDonald’s

What is your favorite vacation destination?

I’ve never been on Vacation but I’d love to visit Mexico
