Name: Justin Heckert

School: Whitehall

Class 2027

Positions played: Offensive and Defensive line

2023 was your Freshman year. What were your personal goals heading into the season, and did you achieve those goals?

My personal goal was just to improve during the season and try to make as minimal mistakes as possible and improve my footwork.

Which side of the line do you feel you are best at?

I personally think I’m better on offense than defense and would rather play RT than LT.

Not all schools have a freshmen team. Do you feel that being able to play on one at Whitehall will benefit not only you but your class once you are all full-time varsity players?

Yes, I think it’ll benefit us as players because it’ll give you more practice reps and playing time so you get more game experience.

I see that you also wrestle. Which of the two sports is the hardest to train for? Explain

I would say wrestling is more physically difficult but football is more difficult in general for me because of the mental side and remembering all the plays and then making the right blocks.

What are you going to remember the most from the 2023 season?

JAust getting to spend time with your teammates and coaches.

What has been your most embarrassing moment as an athlete?

When I was blocking a kid smaller than me I got hip-tossed out of nowhere.

What must you improve on the most to better prepare you for the 2024 season?

Footwork and steps I’m going to focus on and live in that weight room.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned from playing sports?

That you’re not always guaranteed a starting spot even if you have one you can still lose i.

What is your game-day routine?

I would eat something small then I’d listen to calm music and just mentally prepare.

Other than sports, what do you enjoy doing?

Hanging out with family and friends.

Playstation or Xbox? Xbox

Who is your all-time favorite athlete?

Le’Veon Bell
