Why do you play football?
I play football because it is my passion, I enjoy nothing more than playing football with my best friends. Even off the field, I am a film junkie and watch any level of football for fun.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
My favorite sports star is Kyle Hamilton. Kyle Hamilton was always one of my favorite players growing up because of his dynamic play at Notre Dame, I’ve always tried to base my game defensively off of him. In middle school I had a baseball I pitched come back and hit me in the face, knocking lots of my teeth out and fracturing my jaw. After my mom posted a video of me in the hospital with a Kyle Hamilton card, he reached out and sent me hats, autographs, balls, anything you can imagine. One of the nicest NFL players I’ve had the pleasure to talk too, and I’ve been a life long supporter since.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
My favorite play took place last season against Palisades in the playoffs. Where in overtime we ran our Philly Special trick play. I threw a touchdown pass to my teammate Ryan Zambo, after getting the reverse from Grady Newhard. It was a walk off, overtime, trick play touchdown, to advance us in the playoffs; doesn’t get much better than that.
What was last years season like for you?
Last year’s season was my favorite season ever, It was finally a year where I broke out on offense and developed more defensively. Last year we made it pretty far, and it sets our team up for a great season this season, as we chase this district championship.
What are your goals for this coming season?
Our collective team goal this season is a district championship, we all feel as though we have the athletes to take down any team in 2a. I’d personally like to pick up 5-6 interceptions this year, as well as try and push that 1000 receiving yard in a season mark.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
The best player I ever lined up against was Logan Anthony from Palmerton. Although I’m not a lineman, I still could feel his presence in the run game and especially when I had to long snap and get my head up to combo-block him.
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
My favorite game I ever watched was a random game in 2021 where Penn State played Maryland. I wasn’t there or anything, it was just a random 3:30 Saturday game I turned on for the fun of it. I’ve never been a big Penn State fan like most people around here, but after watching a hometown Nazareth kid go nuclear and break multiple records, I was a Jahan Dotson fan for life
Describe what the perfect teammate is
The perfect teammate to me is someone who’s always working their hardest with a positive mindset. A perfect teammate to me doesn’t have to be a great player, or even a starter at all. As long as they showed up to practice each day and challenge their teammates and bring positivity and comradery to the team, I’d consider them a perfect teammate.
Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community
I think the best way for someone to be convinced football is good for the community is to just simply come to one of our games this year. You won’t find a small town anywhere that comes to our Friday nights with the numbers, energy, and support that we get every game. Football gives our town a sense of pride, and you can see how it brings everyone together every Friday Night.
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
I’d love to block a punt, I feel like I’ve got the long arms and speed for it. I’ve never gotten to try and go get one, even though I’m sure it’s harder than it looks. Maybe this will be the year I finally get to do it.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
My mentor is my dad. My dad has shown me what a father and a man should be, through hard work, faith, and strength he is able to provide for our family every day and give my mom , my sister, and I an amazing life with lots of opportunities many aren’t blessed enough to have.
Preseason Two a Days are:
A great memory that I look back on with joy every year. They suck a lot at the time, but nothing beats those hour breaks where you get to chill and joke with all your teammates.
Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?
Most definitely all of my grandparents, specifically my Pop-Pop, George Karetsky. My grandfather has watched every single game since I was little, and even watched them in the hospital through his battles with Cancer and other things. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the support of my grandfather, and I’m excited to see him in the stands this season.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
I’m a big outdoors guy. Fishing has been something I’ve done since I was little, it’s calming and it’s great for seeing beautiful places you wouldn’t see otherwise. I hunt as well, I shot my first buck last season during the football season. I had a great two-day stretch where I had 100 yards receiving and shot an 8 point buck the next day. I’ve also gotten to become a big birdwatcher in the last year, it’s 100% the most old-man hobby, and I welcome the hate I get for it. But I really enjoy walking around the woods and using binoculars to see all kinds of birds, I’ve got 80 different species of birds on my “Life List” right now, and I look forward to getting more this summer.
What is your favorite play to run?
My favorite play to run is a simple fade route, I feel as though its my go-to route, and that I have a really high success rate with it.
Music of choice:
I’m a really big 70s listener. I don’t think I’ve met a bigger fan of Bob Dylan than myself, I also love Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, America, Chris Rainbow, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, and Neil Young. I listen to tons of music each day, I’ve also been slowly getting into artists like Steely Dan, as well as Led Zeppelin who is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Ontario, Canada. Our family goes every year to fish and enjoy the wildlife, and it’s something I look forward to every year.

The white out at Penn State against Rutgers
