Coach Says: Ryan is outstanding offensive Lineman. He is strong, quick off the ball and finishes blocks. He is a 3 year starter. He is a leader on the field, in the locker room and classroom.

Why do you play football?

I do it because I love it. I’ve been playing for since I was 5 and fell in love with the game then. Flag football was where I began. Then worked my way up to helmets and shoulder pads which is when I started to realize that I love this sport and want to play in college.

It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?

I look forward to going out and dominating and playing with the guys I grew up with. The locker room is always a vibe and gets me hyped for the game. Also seeing the student section and the community coming together and packing the stands to come cheer for us.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

I love Jason Kelce because he proved that not all linemen have to be 6’6 350 to dominate at the higher level. He also showed that just because everything doesn’t workout doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive for your goal. He started as a walk on and worked his way up to become an elite player.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

My favorite play was my tackle for loss against Tamaqua. There center kept trying to cut block me and I was getting sick of it. So I ended up pushing his head out of the way getting right past him and bear hugging the running back and running him into the ground. I was so hyped and I remember getting up and feeling so much energy and hearing everyone cheer.

What was last years season like for you?

It was a great season! Got a lot of good film out. We ended up losing in districts to Southern Lehigh. Which still nags at me today. We didn’t play our best game. Losing like that is embarrassing but overall we did well. First season with a new head coach is never an easy adjustment. But Coach Kutz did a good job last year if trying to keep something’s the same so we felt comfortable.

What are your goals for this coming season?

Working on the fundamentals this summer and improve my game to be the best player I can to help my team be successful. Going 1-0 is the first goal and then continue to go 1-0. The Big Goal is a District Title. I am going to do everything in my power to win that title. I haven’t won a District Title since my 10 year old year in Little League. We have the athletes we just have to give full effort every snap, every rep.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

Carter Giberson from Southern Lehigh

When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?

Curt Cignetti because he just won the national championship and his father was a very successful coach. He most likely got a lot of advice and tips from his father.

What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?

I would love to go to Virginia Tech to visit for a game. The lights and Enter sandman have to give you chills. I think it would he a cool experience.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

Eagles and Dodgers

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?

Going to the Penn State Whiteouts are always fun. The environment is crazy and it’s a good time.

What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?

Blindside because Michael went from nothing to going and playing college football.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

My mom doesn’t yell anything to me. She lets the coaches do their jobs. That’s what they are hired for.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

Hurdle someone while dead sprint into the end zone.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

I want to be like my Pop Pop. He was kind, caring, and hardworking. I never got to talk to him to much about life because I was young. But I think I have an idea about how he would want me to be.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:

Track because of Baseball

If you could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Ford F250 Super Duty. There are to many potholes here in PA. So if I got a luxury car it would probably get beat up pretty fast.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

Hanging out with friends and family. I think that time outside of sports is super important.

What is your favorite football memory to date?

Beating Southern Lehigh my sophomore year.

What is your favorite play to run?

Power and Counter

Music of choice:

Country or Rap depends where I am.

What is the most food you ever ate in one sitting?

I’ve eaten 4 dozen wings.

What restaurant is your go to when you need a big meal?

Roma Pizza in Pottsville. Their Chicken Alfredo is so good and it’s a big portion.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

Myrtle Beach was fun to go when I was younger. Captain George’s all you can eat seafood was always a go to. They also had a big dessert section. I always made myself a soft served cone.
