ACC thumps Bangor

Funny thing, football. Tradition stands that once you hit the playoffs, you can throw away the records. Last night Bangor and ACC came in limping along with a loss in their last regular season game, both teams sporting five losses. The difference being the Viking losses came against 6A powers Nazareth, Freedom and Emmaus. Bangors losses weren’t as “impressive”. Nor was their perfomance last night as impressive as Central Catholics. The Vikings jumped out to a 35-7 lead in the first half and cruised to a 42-7 win last night at J Birney Crum Stadium.

The Vikings jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on a 45 yard td reception by Griffin Partridge, and that’s how the quarter ended. The second period wasn’t as slow. Partridge hauled in a 25 yard td pass from Tamlin Ferguson, and on their next drive Ferguson hit Jareel Calhoun on a key fourth down play. That led to a one yard td run to put ACC up 21-0 with 4:42 left in the half.

Nasir McLean picked off an Eric Striba pass giving the Vikings the ball at the Bangor 34 where Ferguson threw his third td pass, a beautiful post to Aidan Sorrentino, giving the Vikings a comfortable 28-0 lead.

They might have gotten too comfortable. Striba found Riley Stapp down the sidelines to the viking 29, he converted a fourth down pass and Noah Hills punched his ticket to the endzone from 3 yards out making it a 28-7 lead.

Wake up call. Armonie Torres heard the bell ring and returned the kickoff 75 yards. In the second half Ferguson and Partridge hooked up again to close out the scoring on a 76 yard td connection.

ACC moves on to face the winner of the Becahi/Blue Mountain game being played today.
