His Head Coach, Jason Roeder, says “they’re getting the total package. He’s obviously an outstanding player. They’re getting a complete package. He knows the game and is a great teammate”.
Shiffert had offers from Army, Lafayette, Liberty, Navy, New Hampshire, Maine, Fordham, Buffalo, Villanova, Bryant and Stony Brook. We caught up with Daniel to ask about his decision:
PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Liberty before your Sr season?
The program that they started is something special. Didn’t want to waste time
PFN: Who was your biggest influence there. , who recruited you?
Coach Bill Durkin, best O line coach I’ve met can’t wait to be coached by him. And get to work
PFN: What are they getting in player like you?
The physicality and athletic ability I can bring as playing as a center
PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
Slow at first, but once stuff started to get going I knew right away that this is the place for me.
PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Undecided
PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?
They just wanted the best for me
PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?
The culture
PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?
Competition, discipline, accountability, purpose
PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:
I’m a student of the game. I take pride in knowing what’s coming before the snap.”
PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?
My Dad
Why do you play football?
I play for the guy next to me. The bond between teammates on that field is something you can’t explain unless you’ve lived it. It’s a brotherhood
What would you do to improve the recruiting process?
Nothing I think it’s where it needs to be
PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?
I just want all my teammates, coaches, and everyone who’s supported me to know this decision wasn’t just about me it’s about all of us. Every early morning, every rep, every win and loss , they were a part of it. I wouldn’t be where I am without this team.
