The Catasauqua Rough Riders defeated the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes with a final score of 35-12.

Wyatt Younes had two touchdowns and broke free for several long gains.

To kickstart this matchup, the Hurricanes deferred the coin toss, resulting in the Rough Riders receiving the kickoff. Younes ran 80 yards to put the Rough Riders up within the first 15 seconds. Christian Fye completed the PAT. The Hurricanes pushed downfield but chose to punt on 4th down. Once the Rough Riders gained possession towards the end of the quarter, Younes gave the ball to Juica for a 53-yard run, but could not score on the drive to finish the quarter. The score at the end of the first was 7-0 Rough Riders.

The Hurricanes started with possession in the second quarter, but it was fumbled and recovered by Catasauqua. Younes continued to rush for yardage to move the Rough Riders into Hurricane territory. Anthonie Hunsicker scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown within the last minute of play, and Fye added on an extra point. With three seconds to go, Jyzaiah Bonilla picked off Hurricane quarterback Brayden Fasnacht’s pass and ran the ball back for a touchdown. After two quick scores, the quarter ended with a strong Rough Rider lead of 21-0.

The third quarter included Catasauqua still dominating the offensive side of the ball. Javier Sobrado pummeled through the Hurricane defense and in for a 2-yard Rough Rider touchdown. The extra point was good and the possession was then returned to the Hurricanes, but to no scoring avail. Younes ran for a touchdown on the punt return, but it was called off due to a penalty. The Hurricanes caught fire when Aidan Clauser intercepted quarterback Christian Fye’s pass on the next play. Aiden Myers then exploded for an 83-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion attempt was no good, but the Hurricanes were on the board. The score was 28-6 as both teams headed into the final quarter of play.

The final touchdown for the Rough Riders came from a 31-yard completion to Juica. Fye laced the extra point and the Rough Rider D would only allow the Hurricanes one more scoring opportunity. Haven’s Niko Carestia got the Hurricanes into scoring position on several strong runs, and Fasnacht hung on to the ball at the 1-yard line to run it in for the quarterback keeper. They once again tried for a two-point conversion, but with no success. The final score of this Week 6 contest was 35-12, Catasauqua, giving the Rough Riders their third straight win.

Head coach Travis Brett and his Catasauqua Rough Riders will take on Minersville away and Mike Farr and his Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will take on Panther Valley away. Both games have a start time of 7 pm as Week 7 kicks off on October 7th.
