CATASUAQUA WINS DEFENSIVE BATTLE 14-6

At Whitehall High School Mahanoy Area gave it all it could in this defensive struggle.

Ben Manley played quarterback and then running back. He amassed 120 yards on 21 carries and had an 8-yards touchdown run. He also was dominant on defense from his linebacker position. But it was not enough as the Rough Riders ran all over the Golden Bears and to a 14-6 victory.

Christian Fye ran 25 yards for a touchdown and that was the difference for the Rough Riders.

This game lacked any offensive fireworks as both teams’ defenses took control.

The key to the game was a Mahanoy drive at the end of the first half that stalled inside the 1. Catasauqua’s defense rose to the occasion and stuffed the Golden Bears on 4 downs. That gave the Roughies a 14-0 lead at the half and lead to the win.

Catasauqua goes to 5-1 and Mahanoy falls to 1-5 on the year.
