Michael McDaniel of Bethlehem Catholic rushed for 251 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Lehighton. McDaniel also returned a fumble 73 yards for a 5th touchdown. The 5 td’s ties the school record held by Brian Baker (1994), Tim Barlok (1997), Dave Wilson (1999) and Eddie Scipio (2000). McDaniel now has 1,471 yards rushing, which places him in 6th place all-time at BECA. He’s also scored 28 td’s this year, which places him in 3rd place behind Dave Wilson’s 37 (1999) and Eddie Scipio’s 31 (2000). McDaniel’s 58 career td’s is good enough for 28th place all-time in the District. He’s tied with Darren Mason of Liberty (1997-99) and Robbie Frey of Lehighton (2004-06). Gerald Douglas of Stroudsburg finished his season last week and still leads the District with his 1,934 yards rushing. Douglas ends his career as the Mountaineer’s all-time career rushing leader.
