PASSING
Chris Marks of Dieruff lead the District last week when he threw for 253 yards in their loss to East Stroudsburg South. Marks went over 1,000 yards for the second time and now has 1,142 yards this year. Brandon Kuehner of Pleasant Valley threw for 241 yards in their win over Pocono Mountain East, pushing his yearly total to 1,490 yards. Tre Jordan of Pius X threw for 224 yards (12 for 12) and 4 td’s last week, to up his District lead to 2,030 yards and 26 td passes. Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh broke his brother Ty’s single season td pass record. Ty had 19 in 2011 while Travis now has 21 so far this season. Travis also went over 5,000 yards passing for his career and now stands at 5,032 yards and 52 td passes. Doug Erney of Liberty now has 1,968 yards passing and has thrown 20 td passes this year and 40 for his career. Erney needs 137 yards passing against Freedom to break Dan Persa’s single season record of 2,104 yards that he set in 2006. Devante Cross of Parkland has thrown for 1,485 yards this year. That’s 2nd best all-time at Parkland behind John Laub’s 1,677 yards that he threw in 2007. Cross has thrown 16 td passes this year and is currently tied with Ryan Brown and Joe Fortenbaugh for 2nd place all-time at Parkland. Laub owns the record with 22 td passes that he also set in 2007. Mason Kholi of Central Catholic threw for 245 yards last week to go over 1,000 yards again and now has 1,179 yards with 16 td passes. Sophomore Jake Cirillo of East Stroudsburg South went over 2,000 yards and 20 td passes for his career. Cirillo has 2,031 yards and 22 td passes. Junior, Tyler Cann of Lehighton, threw for 218 yards in their win over Tamaqua and now has 1,149 yards passing and 10 td passes this year. Cann has thrown for 2,030 yards in his career. Giani Sinatore of Whitehall became the 7th Zephyr to pass for over 1,500 yards in a season. Sinatore’s 1,532 yards places him in 7th place. Junior Zach Thatcher of Saucon Valley and sophomores Garrett Perschy of Palmerton and Ethan Kuczynski of Marian Catholic all went over 1,000 yards passing for the season.
RECEIVING
Jeff Yordy of Pottsville Nativity caught 8 passes from Dominic Piccioni last week for 127 yards and 3 td’s to keep the streak alive at 9 weeks in a row with at least one player with 3 td catches in a game. Also, just found out this week that Nativity played 2 games in week 5 after having a bye week in 4. In that game vs Bucktail, Yordy caught 5 passes for 201 yards and 3 td’s. He has 42 catches this year and now leads the District with 913 receiving yards and 15 td catches. Junior, Tevin Murray of North Schuylkill went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career (1,016). Junior, Nate Stewart of Pius X leads the District with 56 catches followed by freshman Jahan Dotson of Nazareth with 48.
PAST AND PRESENT Wilson’s Nick Labatch carried the ball 46 times for 249 yards and scored 5 td’s in their win over Bangor. His 46 carries breaks Billy Stocker’s school record of 36 carries (Northwestern in 1998). The 5 td’s ties a school record held by Stan Carney, who had 5 td’s vs Northampton in 1925 and Trey Robinson, who had 5 td’s and a school record 405 yards rushing vs Notre Dame in 2012. Labatch’s 249 yards was the 4th highest total at Wilson. Brother, Ed rushed for 836 yards in his career at Wilson from 1999-2002 and was on the coaching staff at Wilson last year. Other brother Chris, rushed for 1,016 yards in his career (2003-06) at Wilson which included playing in the State final in back to back years in 2005-2006 (State champions in 2006). Chris also caught 29 passes for 279 yards. He also still owns 2 records at Wilson when he made 164 tackles in a 2006 and ended with 302.5 tackles for his career. Ed and Chris are both on the Saucon Valley coaching staff. Nick has rushed for 1,719 yards in his career so far.

Week 1&2 Trivia: Let’s try this again. Which District 11 team had the most consecutive years with a 1,000 yard rusher? Northern Lehigh holds the record with 10 consecutive years (1996-2005). It started with Mike Lilly and ended with Nick Hosford. Bethlehem Catholic missed out on a streak of 14 years when sophomore Lee Brennan fell 18 yards short in 1993. Brian Baker was injured early in the season and was lost for the year. Brennan replaced him and finished the year with 982 yards. QB Danny Kendra III had 696 yards. Parkland was 2nd with 9 consecutive years (1995-03). Current streaks that are still alive, are Schuylkill Haven with 8, Tri-Valley and Williams Valley with 6, Whitehall with 5, Stroudsburg with 4 and Pleasant Valley with 3. Five of these teams has a player on the chart.
