Tagged under: District 11, News, Playoffs

| November 7, 2023

If you like ground and pound style football, this is the game you want to watch. If you have the chance to go to the game live, GO !!

In the last meeting between these two programs in week-3, it came down to a 24 to 21 decision, with the Hurricanes coming out the victors. This game will be no different as far as score goes, as this will be just as close of a game as last. In the previous matchup, the Canes were able to gain control of the ground by racking up 306 yards, while the Vikings piled up just 172. Turnovers kept the Vikings in the game most of the time.

        VS

Williams Valley enters this matchup winners of their last 6 games with RB-Alex Achenbach leading the way, piling up a whopping 2633 yards, scoring 28 times. Alex also just broke the school records in career rushing yards, now with 6594, as well as in career touchdowns with 80. Dylan Rabuch was the previous record holder in both categories with 6421 yards rushing and 78 touchdowns. Alex can throw the ball as well when needed going 5 of 10, with those 5 completions all being touchdown passes for a total of 115 yards. The Vikings will be looking for their 7th District title(all in Class 1A), last coming back in 2021. Last year, Williams Valley played for the District XI Class 2A final against EEAC but fell short, the Vikings believe this is the year.

The Hurricanes, have two bruising RB’S of their own that can run the ball very well themselves in Aiden Myers(sr), and (so)Niko Caresita. Myers with 1117 yards, scoring 10 times and Caresita with 1083, scoring 16 times. Schuylkill Haven hasn’t won a District title since 2017 and this team is ready to get back to their winning ways.

How They Got Here:

Alex Achenbach led the way for the Viking last week racking up 295 yards, scoring 3 touchdowns in their victory against Catasauqua 34 to 20. QB-Brady Shomper would throw for a touchdown, as well as rush for another.

Schuylkill Haven’s Aiden Myers and Niko Caresita would lead the way, piling up 330 yards between the two, scoring 6 touchdowns(3 each). As a team, the Hurricanes would amass 440 yards on the ground, scoring 10 times in the thumping of the defending District XI Class 2A champion Raptors of EEAC 71 to 12.
