EAST STROUDSBURG- Coach Matt Walters knew how key this game was for his East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers Saturday night against unbeaten Pleasant Valley Bears at the Purple Pit,that he called for an onside kick to start the game, which the Cavs recovered, and cashed in on the drive converting on a forth-and-twelve from the Bears 22 as quarterback Bobby McClosky connected with Dylan Osorio across the middle, absorbing a big hit and finding his way into the end zone to grab a quick 6-0 lead at the 8:43 mark on their way to a dominate 36-14 win over a much improved Bears squad on a fantastic night in Monroe County.

Pleasant Valley’s defense was focused on South’s running back Ron Blake, with that Gary Welge took advantage and score three times for the Cavaliers to stay in EPC North title race.

Welge got his first score from six yards out with 11:43 left till half making the score 14-0 as McClosky converted the two-point conversion.

At the 4:53 mark of the second quarter, Welge, looked like he was stood up at the line of scrimmage, but he kept his legs moving and burst through on his way to a 46 yard score and a 22-0 lead over a team who had only given up a safety in their previous two games.

Pleasant Valley did manage to avoid being shutout in the first half as quarterback Robert Papaleo found Jake Gethern to make it 22-7 going into the locker room. Papaleo also had a touchdown pass to Ryan Blass in the fourth quarter.

East Strousdburg South’s coach Matt Walters was plaesed with his teams performance winning against a team whose scheme is very difficult to prepare for

East Stroudsburg South(3-1, 1-0) will now face Pocono Mountain East(1-2, 1-1) Friday night at home who is coming off a 37-34 win over William Allen. Pleasant Valley(2-1, 1-1) will face Louis Dieruff(0-4) lost 44-2 to Poxono Mountain West.

Cavalier quarterback Bobby McClosky, had graet things to say about his teams effort Saturday night.
