Hollywood’s Cutting Room Floor- Colonial League Week 2.

The feel of Autumn is definitely in the air, with Labor Day weekend, behind us and Tropical Storm Ida, though potent and dropped mega-amounts of rain last Wednesday across Eastern Pennsylvania, did not hamper the high school football schedule over the weekend as all games were played involving teams from the Colonial/Schuylkill League.

Thursday night football is where we begin as the Bangor Slaters traveled nearly ninety minutes to Bucks County to face Pottstown and came out on top 54-7. Bangor had two defensive score as Craig Campbell had a 77 yard interception return for a score and Dylan Miller had a 25 yard pick six after a Pottstown pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage. Running back Cael Godshalk scored twice, moving the Slaters record to 2-0 on the season.

Friday night had traditional District XI 5A contender Southern Lehigh on the road at Notre Dame Green Pond, and the Crusaders dominated the visitors from Center Valley by the score of 53-14, Notre Dame quarterback Colin Quintano had another big night throwing for 385 yards and five touchdown on 17 of 24 passes, one of those a 92 yard touchdown strike to Tarif Muhammed.

Five touches for 116 yards and a score in the Tigers win over Northern Lehigh 34-33

Matt Frame, running back Northern Lehigh

88 yards rushing and a 93 yard kickoff return in a 34-33 loss to Northwestern Lehigh

QB Brad Rissmiller from Pen Argyl

Threw two touchdowns and 178 yards in Saturday loss to Catasauqua 42-15

QB Justin Holmes, Northwestern Lehigh

Ran the ball nearly 30 times for 225 yards and three touchdowns in win over Northern Lehigh

QB Cayden Stem, Wilson Area

Completed 8 of 9 passes 290 yards and four touchdowns in 47-0 win over Palisades

Christian Frye, QB, Catasauqua

Threw for 170 yards on 5 of 6 passing and three touchdowns in 42-15 win over Pen Argyl. He was also 6 for 6 on PAT’s.

The Schuyllkill/Colonial League Standings Leaders:

Red Division: Notre Dame Green Pond and North Schuylkill lead the way at 2-0 overall
White Division: Catasauqua is 2-0
Blue Division: No Colonial League Teams
Gold Division: Wilson Area, Northwestern Lehigh and Bangor are all 2-0
