ALLENTOWN- The whispers had begun a few weeks ago as the games ticked off each football programs schedule, and a “W” went onto the records of both schools. Friday night Freedom held up their share of the bargain with an impressive 35-7 dismantling of Easton. It was up to Emmaus, on a misty, foggy Saturday night against the Vikings of Allentown Central Catholic at J. Birney Crum Stadium in front of a sparce, but boisterous crowd. When the final horn sounded, The Hornets dominated the Vikings in all aspects of the game enroute to a 49-14 victory. Setting up the epic showdown in the EPC South next Friday night at EPSD Stadium. Let the talk begin!

“There is no away around it, both us and Freedom are 7-0 and it should be a great game.” Emmaus coach Harold Fairclaugh said. “We know there will be a lot of talk about it. The media hype, the students and fans will be talking about it. We need to keep our intensity in tact and not focus on all the outside noise that will surround this game. We need to keep improving, put our heads down and concentrate on the little things. We made too many penalties tonight that we can’t have against our next opponent.” He concluded

Both teams traded scores early in the contest. Emmaus on a 6 yard draw-play by QB Ethan Parvel. Then Central Catholic answered with 12 yard pass from Frank Rauscher to George Hlavac with 5:10 left in the first quarter. On the ensuing kickoff Lubens Meyers had a 75 yard return that put the ball on the Viking one. From there Sone Ntoh cashed it in making the score 15-7.

The Hornets would score twice more in the second quarter. A 22 yard run by Brandon Camire. Ntoh had 33 yard scoring run to extend the lead to 28-7. With just seconds left before intermission the Vikings set-up for a field goal, but the snap went awry and the ball was scooped up by Izaiah McPherson who returned it 75 yards for a score.

Parvel connected on a 25 yard pass to Deonte Castro, who made a spectacular diving catch in the back of the end zone with 7:26 left in the third quarter. Central Catholic drove the ball to the Emmaus 4 yard line on their next possession, but a fumbled handoff was recoved by the opportunistic Hornet defense. Emmaus just needed one play to take advantage as Camire went 96 yards to make the score 49-7. Central Catholic closed out the scoring with a Tristan Frances 5 yard score with 9:22 left in the contest.

Freedom comes in dominating their opponents, with closest game was a 21-20 win over Parkland. Emmaus had two nail-biters on their way to going 7-0. a 43-42 win over Nazareth on a last second desperation pass and a 2-point conversion and a 30-28 win over Easton.
