The Bombers, to their credit played each of these tough, which may have bode them well as they completely dominated the Green Knights 62-30, dampening a large homecoming day crowd up on the hill.

In addition to the 92 combined points scored, it also had its’ share of miscues as each team combined for ten turnovers. seven by the home team alone. Four of which were interceptions, the remaining three on fumbles.

Palmerton jumped out quickly to a 14-2 lead after the first twelve minutes of play. Andrew Sabo, led the way with both tallies. The first coming on 1 yard run on the opening drive. Sabo added a two yard run with 6:41 left in the quarter. Pen Argyl got a safety late in the quarter as Connor Kupres and Todd Barr tackled the Blue Bomber back in the end zone.

The second quarter was all Palmerton, who took advantage of several Green Knight turnovers to extend to a 35-2 lead. Sabo, got his third score on a 17 yard dash just 12 seconds into the quarter. Pen Argyl then drove deep into Bomber territory but an errant pass was picked by Aaron Stasko on the 14, 86 yards later it was 28-2. Stasko then connected with Jordan Nelson on a 10 yard pass with 7:41 left till intermission, after another Green Knight turnover. The Green Knights were then the beneficiary of two consecutive interception returns for scores to cut the lead to 35-16 at intermission. The first on a 17 yard return by Conner Kupres. Then a Conor Fehr return from 42 yards kept the game from going into Mercy Rule status.

The second half started out positive for Pen Argyl as they drove into Bomber territory, but another interception setup up Palmerton at their own 29. On the ensuing drive Nelson scored from 8 yards out to make it 42-16 with 6:00 left in the quarter.

The Knights just needed two plays on the ensuing drive as QB Anderson Dear found Todd Barr down the sidelines, Barr out-jumped the defender to make the catch and then found the end zone completing a 75 yard scoring play. Then Palmerton went back to thier bread and butter with Nelson and Sabo each found their way to paydirt. Nelson from 33 yards and Sabo from 18 yards on the last play of the quarter, expanding the lead to 55-16.

Tanner Burnett scored from a yard out for Palmerton with 5:52 left in the contest. Dan Pfeiffer closed out the scoring for the home team on a 66 yard dash with 4:51 left.

Sabo ended the day with just 19 carries for 122 yards and 4 scores. Nelson had 139 yards and two scores for Bombers.

“I give our kids so much credit. We were 0-4 coming in but these kids never quit. We knew we are better than what our record shows.” Palmerton coach Chris Walkowiak stated. “All those teams we played are possible playoff teams. That tough schedule will give us cinfidence that we can finish the season on strong note.” He added.

“You can’t turn the ball over that many times and expect to win.” Pen Argyl coach John C. Smith said. ” We had our chances, we made several trips deep inside their territor and the turnovers ended positive drives. We got to clean that up going forward.” He added.

Palmerton (1-4) will now will host (4-1) Northwestern Friday night. Pen Argyl (2-3) will travel to winless Wilson Saturday afternoon.
