Hellertown-

In the home opener for the Panthers, who were also christening their brand new scoreboard, the result was in doubt up until half time.  The game started as a stifling defensive battle with neither team able to get anything going on their first few respective possessions.  In addition to the defenses standing strong, penalties plagued the opening drives with both offenses finding themselves behind the sticks  and off schedule.  All of this changed when Saucon Valley sophomore QB Braden Rohn found Sr Andrew Gilbert on a quick hitter around the outside of the Blue Bomber defense from about 20 yards out to open the scoring and put Saucon Valley up 7-0 over Palmerton with 3:23 left in the opening quarter

The Blue Bombers answered back a few drives later in the 2nd quarter after stopping the Panther offense on 4th and short around mid-field.  The Palmerton offense led by Sr. QB Jameson Trainer capitalized on the shorter field to tie up at 7 with a few minutes left in the opening half.

The half ended with the teams knotted at 7.  Opening the 2nd half, the Blue Bombers successfully executed a squib kick and recovered deep in Sacuon Valley territory. The momentum from this was short lived as the Blue Bombers coughed up the ball a few plays later and was pounced on by Saucon Valley defender Adam Clark.

The Panther offense wasted little time to move the ball down field and only 2 plays later, Sr. RB Jared Rohn found an opening around the right side of the Blue Bomber defense and took it to the house from about 20 yards out and put the Panthers up 14-7 with just over 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

This score opened the flood gates and the Panther offense exploded for another 4 scores in the 3rd quarter.   The following Panther possession after forcing a punt by Palmerton had Braden Rohn find Shane Kerosetz on a WR screen who then took the short pass to the house for another Panther touchdown.

The next offensive possession would look to be almost an exact copy of the prior with Rohn finding Gilbert this time on the WR screen from 41 yards out for the Saucon Valley touchdown.

The Blue Bombers would be intercepted early in their ensuing drive by Saucon Valley’s Robertson and then he would finish the job a few plays later by finding the end zone himself.

This score would signal the end of the day for the Panther and Blue Bomber starters and be the final score of the 3rd quarter for either team.  The final stanza however would see the Panthers continue to roll.  The Panther defense got in on the action with Parker Skoda picking off the Bomber’s QB and returning it 61 yards for the Panther touchdown.

The Panther defense would continue to stifle the Blue Bomber offense and after forcing another Palmerton punt the Saucon Valley offense would find pay dirt once again as Eli Szlachtianshyn found room around the outside of the Blue Bomber defense and put the Panthers up 56-7 with 7:33 left in the game.

The scoring would be capped by another Saucon Valley defensive score as a bad snap would soar over the Blue Bombers QB’s head and would be jumped on by Sahalay Hernandez in the endzone for the Panther touchdown putting the Panthers up 63-7 as the end of the matchup approached.

The victory for Saucon Valley brings them to 3-0 on the year and lines them up for a huge matchup next week against Notre Dame Green Pond (2-1) who suffered a heart-breaking defeat last night at the hands of North Schuylkill on the final play of the game 29-31.  With the loss, Palmerton falls to 0-3 on the year and looks to bounce back next week against Lehighton (1-2) who fell to Southern Lehigh 34-3 last night.
