Blue Mountain v Pottsville History:
Last Meeting: 2023 – Blue Mountain won 21 to 14
The Eagles come into this years matchup, winners of 2 straight by an average score of 19 to 7 over the Tide. For the series, which dates back to 1960, Pottsville leads 45 to 15, with 12 shutouts. The longest winning streak in the series is held by the Crimson Tide, winning 12 straight from 1974-1985, Blue Mountain’s longest win streak over the Tide is 3, back in 2000 thru 2002. Since 2012, these two programs have played for what is called the Clash of 61 Trophy, with both of them winning 6 each following last years 21 to 14 win by the Eagles. Tom Gallagher is 2-1 in his short career as Eagles head coach against the Crimson Tide, hoping to win his and the team’s 3rd straight over Pottsville.
Blue Mountain(6-2), will look to rebound following the 38 to 14 loss to North Schuylkill last Thursday night.
The group is more focused now coming off the loss, said Coach Gallagher. He also went onto say, “Nobody likes to lose but it’s important to learn from those losses and improve.”
Pottsville on the other hand, looks to keep riding the high following their 35 to 0 victory over a struggling Wilson Area club.
Thus far this season for the visiting Crimson Tide, score 25 points a game, giving up 17. Offensively, the Tide rush for just over 100 yards a game, throwing for a decent 153. The Eagles are just a bit more balanced, rushing for just over 200 yards a game, while throwing for just under 200, for a total of 409 yards a game.
Some key players on offense are Brady Strause(qb), Tyler Stahley(rb), Gaige Guers(wr/ss), and Bradley Renninger(wr) for the Eagles, as well as their offensive line. On defense, the Eagles are led by Guers(ss/wr) and Reese Miller(mlb).
Offensively for Pottsville, some key players are, Andrew Allen(qb), JuJu Bainbridge(rb) and Tsirell Curry(wr/cb) while the key guys on defense are, Brayden Evans, Shay Strencosky(fs/ss), and Tsirell Curry(wr/cb).
