Coach Jones says: Khalid has been a dynamic player for us for the past three seasons. Khalid is a mainstay in our athletics program, having participated in Football, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling and Track (Throwing). He holds offers from Indiana, Bowling Green, Akron, Temple, Monmouth, Marshall, and Stonybrook. Villanova and Old Dominion are extremely interested. He is a kid we pulled from obscurity as we tend to do. He has made both All-State teams as a Junior and has competed in the Army All-American National Combine in Frisco Texas. Khalid also has been invited to Under Armour’s All-American National Combine in May. He was also invited to an NBC National Combine in Texas, but he was unable to attend. Khalid plays linebacker for us and stands 6’2″ and weighs 225. Despite our limited resources, Khalid has built himself into a weight room standout, nearly breaking every strength record we have. Currently benching 315 lbs which is just 20 pounds off the mark. He is tied for our strongest squat at 555, and he is just 10 pounds off the deadlift mark at 485 lbs. He is such a joy to have around because he is such a positive kid whose background includes a penchant for Anime among other things that your average Philly football player doesn’t involve themselves in. Khalid stays true to himself despite the pressures around him. He is quiet but easy to talk to. He is a straight-A student and has scored a 1010 on his first shot at the SAT. With all of the violence among the youth of Philly, Khalid is surely a bright spot for our city, and we are very proud of his effort. He practices extremely hard and has a very high IQ. Curious about deeper aspects of the linebacker position even after a 111 tackle and 9 sack season. He wants to get even better, and he is doing just that with this off-season. He forewent Wrestling, which he was a District Champion and a regional qualifier, in order to prepare for football which he is fully committed to. Khalid is from a single-parent household, so he clings to our program for the positive male influence. His mother is very supportive of us working with Khalid and is grateful for the current position he is in.
