District 12 Week 7 Rewind
NG 6 Bonner-Prendie 0: The Saints and Friars played a great defensive struggle game with both teams displaying a physical brand of football. Both teams came into the game undefeated in CL Blue Division play. NG would break open the scoring on a 4th down conversion pass from Mekhi Wharton to Amahj Gowens to take a 6-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter. The 2-point conversion would be unsuccessful and the Friars defense would put constant pressure on the Saints QB most of the game while stuffing the run game. For the Friars their offense would be bottled up most of the evening by the Saints. Star RB Avery Hankey would run hard with 16 carries for 75 yards while WR Jeremiah Coleman would haul in 4 passes for 39 yards. The Friars finished with 6 sacks with Malychi Williams (2) and Jalil Hall (2) leading the way. So. CB Dylan Abrams would also help out defensively with an interception. For the Saints RB Terrence Page rushed 22 times for 79 yards while Amahj Gowens rushed 3 times for 33 yards while also catching 5 passes for 72 yards. Sr. DB Khamir Prescott would seal the victory with his interception with under a minute remaining as Bonner threatened to score. This could very well be a rematch for the CL Blue Division title at the end of the month as both teams have the talent to run the table.

Roman 34 Archbishop Wood 3: The Cahillites dominated offensively and used a stingy defense to roll to a sizable victory in their CL Red Division win. RB Dazhaun Hopkins rushed 10/66 yards & a TD; Xavier Kincade rushed for 40 yards & a TD. So. QB Semaj Beals threw for 328 yards & 3 scores. His favorite targets were Trey Woodley (5/74 1 TD), Jay Ford King (2/119 1 TD) Zamir Newsuan (2/18 1 TD). For Wood Kevon Griffin recorded an interception while Nakai Robinson led the Vikings offensively with 67 rushing yards. With his performance Semaj has already claimed the school single season record for passing yardage.
Father Judge 35 Conestoga 6: The Crusaders finished their non-league schedule with a great win. Sr. Eric Smith led the team in rushing with 92 yards & 2 TDs. Sr. QB Tyler Yerkov threw for 184 yards & 2 TDs while Nymeir Appling joined in the scoring off an receiving TD to accompany his 78 receiving yards. Defensively both Denzel Dunbar & Derrick Kennedy recorded interceptions.
Cardinal O’Hara 14 Conwell Egan 13: The Lions escaped with a key CL Blue Division road win behind the strong rushing attack led by Keon Powell (10/87 1 TD) and Sidique Kamara (10/59). So. QB John Welde would throw for 79 yards & 1 TD to Logan Maloney (50-yard strike). Logan would also record a key interception for the defense. For Egan Mentorl Zoryea (14/73) & Sincere Fairey (13/63) led the team in rushing.
St Joes Prep 42 La Salle 6: The Explorers went into their showdown at Franklin Field shorthanded as Stevie Davis & Desmond Ortiz were unavailable. Their leading rusher on the day would be John McSorley. So. QB Gavin Sidwar would throw for 82 yards and a TD to Julian McFadden while DB Dylan Clair would nab an interception on defense. For the Hawks they’d receive a season best 106 rushing yards from stud RB Isaiah West to go along with his 2 TDs. Also scoring for Prep would be Samaj Jones (1 rushing & 3 passing TDs), Skyler Shoulder, Taj Dyches & Brandon Rehmann.
Archbishop Carroll 29 West Catholic 24: The Patriots earned a CL Blue Division win on the road over a gritty WC Burrs team behind the strong performance of Aaron Barnes (94 rushing yards & 1 TD), QB Jay Boyd (102 passing yards 1 TD), Luke Watson ( 2 catches 38 yards 1 TD) & Hasaan Bailey (1 TD on 1 interception). For the Burrs they fought hard and nearly came away with their first win of the season behind Jr. QB Kal-El Durham’s season best 209 yards passing & 2 TDs. His main targets were Kahir Thomason (96 yads) and Amir Smith (77 yards).
Lansdale Catholic 24 Archbishop Ryan 3: The Crusaders cruised to a big win over the Raiders in large part to the season best performance from Jacahi Streeter (173 rushing yards & 3 TDs) & Tom Ellis would tack on the additional 6 points via an FG and 3 PATs. For the Raiders rusher Chris Dalton ran for a season high 123 yards in the loss.
Imhotep 35 Northeast 0: In what was billed as the top game of the week in the Pub turned out to be a blowout win in a shortened game for the Panthers. After NE converted an early on-sides kick and drove the field to the 10-yard line before stalling the Panthers offense went to work. Jr. RB Jabree Wallace-Coleman rushed for 96 yards & 1 TD while Sr. QB Mikal Davis rushed for 2 more scores on the ground while tossing the rock for 187 yards & 2 scores to Nile Brown & Johann Hennigan. For the Vikings playing with their 3rd string QB Freshman Kysir Bracket they had limited success offensively, but Jr. RB David Akpuru did catch 1 pass for 40 yards.
Ben Franklin 38 Kensington 32: The Tigers were on their way to what looked like a big victory with a 26-8 lead in the 3rd quarter before the Electrons stormed back to outscore them 32-6 over the last 20 minutes of the game.
Executive Education Academy 46 Samuel Fels 14: Fels despite playing hard fell to EEA to go to 0-3 on the season.
Abraham Lincoln 28 John Bartram 6: The RailSplitters extended their winning streak to 2 games as they rolled past the Braves behind Sr. QB Gabe Smalley’s 4 total TDs (386 passing yards).
Academy of the New Church 40 George Washington 13: The Eagles suffered their first defeat of the 2023 season. After falling behind 14-0 the Eagles battled back to get within 14-7 at the 1st quarter. They’d keep it close only trailing 20-13 at the half before things unraveled in the 2nd half.
Mastery Charter North 25 Central 15: The Pumas got back on the winning track with a huge divisional win over neighboring Central Lancers.
Martin Luther King 32 Frankford 8: The Cougars got a historical performance from a trio of rushers as Isaiah Robinson (164 yards). Shamir Norton (136 yards) and Mekhi Robinson (110 yards) all ran for 100+ yards in their win over Frankford. That would also be a school record for the Cougars who are currently 5-1 on the season.

West Philadelphia 20 Belmont 6: The Tigers who were visiting WP jumped out early to an early 6-0 lead before West would respond and tie the game at 6. After Halftime the Speedboys would tack on an additional 2 TDs for the final victory margin.
Dobbins 22 Thomas Edison 0: The Mustangs after a coaching change and 2-week hiatus returned to the gridiron to earn their 2nd victory of the season over Thomas Edison.
Simon Gratz 36 Olney 2: The Bulldogs would get back on track after a few rough weeks with a blowout win over Olney in a Public League Independence Division win over the Trojans.
Academy at Palumbo 16 Vaux Big Picture 12: The Griffins earned their 2nd win of the season with a narrow win over division rival Vaux.
Boys Latin Charter 39 Kipp-DuBois 0: The Boys Latin Warriors would get a great performance from QB Jeremiah Roach who threw for 222 yards and 1 TD while also rushing for 43 yards. Sr. RB Nasir Davis added 73 yards on the ground. Michael Stewart led the Warriors with 82 yards receiving. Jr. DB Malachi Williams racked up 3 sacks on the evening.
School of the Future 28 Roxborough 6: The Firebirds remained undefeated within the division with their win over the Indians.
