Tonight’s Philadelphia Public  game featuring league powerhouse Imhotep Charter and Simon Gratz was terminated with 8 minutes left in the second quarter after gunshots were fired in or in the vicinity of the stadium.  Two teenagers were injured with gunshot wounds to the leg   both are listed in stable condition and should be released  soon. Imhotep was leading 19-0 when the game was halted. Gratz Head Coach and Athletic Director  Erik Zipay whose team hosted the game made the following statement after the game. “It’s disappointing that the young men from Imhotep and Gratz who have worked hard all off season lost the opportunity to complete a game because of nothing that had to do with football. The players deserve better. These young men only have so many Friday Night Light games ! Our communities deserve better. I’m not sure what the solution is, but I’ll be back at Gratz on Monday putting the effort in ! Much appreciation to the coaching staffs from both teams for acting quickly and precisely to keep the student athletes safe and under control in a moment of chaos. I appreciate all the calls and texts checking on me and the boys. Be safe everyone and Go Dawgs.”
