This game pitted two very talented teams on a great weather Friday evening. For those who’ve never partaken in a game at Bonner-Prendie the stadium is very unique as there are no bleachers or stands inside the stadium. Spectators can sit on the grass hills, the concrete ledge below the steps or stand around the field behind the gates. For those who want a higher view they can stand up top and watch through the fence.

This game lived up to all the hype as the Saints prevailed in a narrow 6-0 lead. Both teams were physical and made great plays on offense. NG broke through with 9 mins left in the second quarter with a toss and catch from Mekhi Wharton to Armagh Gowens that would be juggled before secured for a spectacular touchdown to give the Saints an early 6-0 lead. Mekhi stated “We practiced that circus catch all week”.

Prior to that play both defenses were making huge plays with hard hits and constant pressure on the ball carriers and quarterbacksThe second half would be full of chances for both teams to score but huge defensive plays by both trs would thwart scoring opportunities. For Bonner both Mylachi Williams (Penn State) and Jalil Hall recorded a sack while getting good pressure on NG’s quarterback Mekhi Wharton. Isaiah Sessions also has to be mentioned for his physical play and made a few big hits this evening.

For the Saints Deshon Dodson notched a key fumble recovery while mixing in 4 tackles. Kahmir Prescott was very active in the secondary mixing in 4 tackles and a game saving interception to seal the victory with just under a minute remaining. The Friars were able to get deep into NG territory twice after great runs by Avery Hankey but failed to convert those possessions into points.

Up next for NG is Conwell Egan while Bonner moves on to Lansdale Catholic. Both teams still control their destiny with regards to possibly earning a CL Blue Division Title game berth.
