Jasir returns as a multi-year starter for the GWHS Eagles and HC Austin Brasche states “Jasir had a great junior season at DE. He is really strong and has great speed and quickness. This upcoming season he will take on a role on offense as well with taking many snaps at tight end”.
Why do you play football?
I play football because I grew up watching it and always loved the game of football.
What is your current GPA?
2.92
What schools have offered or shown interest in you?
Right now I have no offers but my goal is to change that this upcoming season.
What do you plan to major in upon enrolling in college?
I plan to major in sports management & marketing because I take a class like this in high school.
What class is your favorite?
My favorite class is math, I was always better in math than in any other subject.
Who is your all-time favorite athlete & why?
My favorite athlete is Calvin Johnson because of how unstoppable he was on the field.
Favorite moment in your HS career thus far?
My favorite moment would have to be playing South Philly last season because it was a close game & after halftime, we opened up the score and won by a large margin (51-26).
What was the 2022 season like for you?
The 2022 season was full of ups & downs & I loved it. Every game was a new experience and it made me love the game even more.
2023 individual & team goals?
An individual goal I have is to put my name on the map & get offers so I can fulfill my dreams. A team goal that we talk about a lot is winning a championship because that is the only goal in our eyes.
Favorite game of all-time?
My favorite game of all time was watching the 2017-2018 Super Bowl where the Eagles won over the Patriots.
Favorite meal?
My favorite meal is chicken and gravy over rice.
Favorite play to run?
My favorite play to run last year on the defensive side of the ball was “Moody” even though it was a newer concept.
Hobbies outside of sports?
I sometimes play basketball or I go around the field and just put in more work.
What scares you the most?
I really don’t have many fears, but my biggest fear is an injury that ends my high school season & career.
Who is the most inspirational person in your life?
My mom is the most inspirational person in my life because even when my father passed away she found ways to keep me active, was always there and still is there for me.
Pregame music to prepare you for games?
I listen to a lot of NBA Youngboy because his music just keeps me hype and amped up.
Who is your best teammate & why?
I would say my best teammates are the defensive line & linebackers because I play defensive line & the linebackers go hand and hand with us.
Did you play little league football and if so for what organization(s)?
I didn’t play little league football.
What should people know about George Washington High as a school, football program and about the coaches?
People should know that George Washington behind the scenes is a very good football program & the coaches and players all work together to make something great. A lot of people looking from the outside in see us on the news and many think we are a bad school but things that other schools allow we don’t. Our coaches teach us things that will help us in adulthood & life period. They teach us discipline too.
Cheesesteak or Hoagie & which shop has the best sandwich?
I like cheesesteaks more and I believe you can find a good cheesesteak anywhere in Philly.
