District 12 & Inter-Ac League Week 7 Recap:

George Washington 21 High School of the Future 18: The Eagles got a great performance from Jr. WR/DB Jamar Coleman who finished the evening with 2 interceptions, a touchdown, 2 tackles & 2 coverage sacks. The win propelled GW to the division title which also ensures they’ll be promoted to the Liberty Division.

Kensington 34 Overbrook 12: The Tigers earned their 2nd win on the season while the Panthers fell for the 5th consecutive week. With the loss Overbrook will be demoted to the American Division next season.

Vaux Big Picture 28 Samuel Fels 0: The Cougars got the shutout win while Fels fell to 0-4 this season. Vaux will prepare for the PL 3A playoffs in 2 weeks.

Frankford 8 Ben Franklin 6. The Pioneers got their 3rd win of the year over a gritty Electron team.

Boys Latin 20 Central 14: The Warriors started off slow as Central got a huge, long TD reception from Vance Johnson and that was followed up by Jordan Nicholson 4-yard rushing score to take an early 14-0 lead. The Warriors would get on the board mid-2nd quarter with a pitch and catch resulting in a Damour Berry-Martinez touchdown reception. The conversion would fail and the ensuing possession Central would fumble deep in their own territory giving the Warriors the ball back at the Central 20-yard line. Semaj Carmichael would score with 4 minutes left on a 10-yard rushing TD to cut the lead to 14-12. The score would remain the same to end the 1st half. So. QB Jeremiah Roach would toss a 2nd half TD to retake the lead and that would be enough for them to secure the win as they’d secure a hard fought 20-14 road victory.

Roxborough 16 South Philadelphia 0: The Indians earned their 3rd win of the season with a shutout home win over the Rams. Roxborough scored twice on a QB scrambles & another on short pass into the endzone.

Bonner Prendie 28 Lansdale Catholic 7: Despite a late bus arrival to transport the Friars to Lansdale they handled business and came away with a great CL Blue Division victory. Isaiah Sessions returned the opening kickoff 72 yards to jump start the scoring. Freshman QB Kenjai Gatling finished the day 14/20 for 124 yards & 3 TDs. His main targets were Jalil Hall (6/53 yards & 1 TD) & Jeremiah Coleman (5/41 yards & 1 TD). Jachahi Streeter would score the lone TD for Lansdale, a 34-yard score to briefly tie the score at 6-6 early in the 1st quarter. He’d finish with 108 yards on the day.

St. Joseph’s Prep 55 Father Judge 19: The Hawks jumped out early on the Crusaders with a quick with a 55-yard TD reception score from Isaiah West. Semaj Jones would follow up with a short rushing TD of his own for a quick 14-0 lead. Taj Dyches would join in the scoring fun with his own 25-yard TD run as they jumped out to a quick 21-0 1st quarter lead. Judge would get on the board twice in the second quarter with 2 FG’s and a TD however Prep would lead 35-12. The Prep would score 3 more second half TDs to Judge’s 1 TD for a comfortable 55-19 win.

Abraham Lincoln 37 Northeast 0: The Railsplitters would erase history and create new history with a crushing road win at neighboring rival Northeast. Sensational Sr. QB Gabe Smalley would throw 3 TDs as they cruised to victory. The game was pretty much over by halftime as Lincoln scored 18 points in the first quarter alone. At the half the score was Lincoln 31 Northeast 0. The game was halted with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter after a scrum broke out between both teams on the field. Unfortunately, both teams’ benches were cleared thus both teams will be forced to forfeit this week’s games and sit idle as the league handed down stern punishments to both programs.

Neumann-Goretti 28 Conwell Egan 14: The Eagles would jump out to a 14-12 lead over the Saints in the 1st quarter. Unfortunately, they’d sputter offensively after that and trail 20-14 at the half. The Saints would tack on a 4th quarter score for the final victory margin. The win assured NG of at least a share of the CL Blue Division regular season title. Leading the Saints offensively were Terrence Paige who ran 21 times for 98 yards, Sr. QB Mekhi Wharton who passed 12/14 for 80 yards & 2 TDs and Sr. Athlete Kahmir Prescott who had 2 touchdowns.  Egan has an outside chance at a rematch if they can force a 3-way tie for 2nd place with Bonner/O’Hara.

Simon Gratz 22 John Bartram 14: The Bulldogs pulled off a stunning upset over the Braves on Friday the 13th. Entering the game at 2-5 they were underdogs to the then 4-2 Braves but stood up and found a way to get a huge victory.

Academy at Palumbo 8 Kipp DuBois 0: The Griffins have quietly strung together an impressive second half of the season performances. With the win they’ve set themselves up for a division title game up next against Thomas Edison. Winner will be division champions and move up to the next level division next season.

Martin Luther King 28 Belmont Charter 6: The Cougars quietly are one of the hottest teams in the city right now as they’re currently 6-1. With the win MLK now will travel to West Philadelphia to finish the regular season with a division title at stake. If MLK wins they’ll win the division and be promoted in 2024 back to the top division within the public league.

Cardinal O’Hara 17 Archbishop Carroll 0: The Lions got on the board first with a 31-yard TD pass from John Welde to Khalil Epps for an early 7-0 lead. They’d tack on a 34-yard FG from Gavin McLain to extend the lead to 10-0 at the half. The scoring would be capped off by a Welde QB sneak to start the 4th quarter. For the Patriots Jr. Omar Johnson snagged an interception.

Archbishop Ryan 20 West Catholic 0: The Ryan Raiders picked up their 2nd win on the season while the Burrs fell to 0-7. RB Chris Dalton rushed 25 times for 125 yards and a TD for Ryan.

La Salle College 48 Archbishop Wood 0: The Explorers got 4 first half TDs from So. QB Gavin Sidwar in the romp over Wood. The Explorers took a 34-0 lead into halftime and had a running clock early in the 3rd quarter.

West Philadelphia 14 Mastery Charter North 7: The Pumas would jump out on the scoreboard first for a quick 7-0 1st quarter lead. The Speedboys would cut the lead on a Zahfir Cleaveland rushing TD to go into the half down 7-6. The 3rd quarter they’d tack on the game winning touchdown on another Zamir rushing score for the final win margin of 14-7. Zahfir would lead the team in total offense with 22 carries for 176 yards & 2 TDs. He also totaled 7 tackles on defense.

Imhotep 62 Olney Charter 0: The Panthers made quick work of the Trojans. They scored 4 first quarter score for a 28-0 lead. They would take a 38-0 lead into the half. The 3rd quarter they’d add another TD and FG before tacking on 2 more scores in the 4th for the final victory margin. Jabree Wallace-Coleman rushed for 97 yards & 3 TDs. Freshman RB Ronell Word also added 2 rushing touchdowns. Sr. Ken Woseley Jr. added 2 field goals including a 35-yard kick.

Thomas Edison 26 Lower Moreland 0: The Owls earned their 4th victory of the season with a shutout win over District 1 Lower Moreland on the road. With a victory over Palumbo next week, they’d win their division.

Haverford School 45 Germantown Academy 7: The Fords got Inter-Ac league play underway with a resounding and dominating win over the undefeated Patriots. Matthew Brosko led the Fords to victory with a gritty performance as he rushed 40 times for 246 yards & 3 TDs. For the Patriots they were competitive in the first half as they only trailed 17-7 at the half behind So. QB Xavier Stern’s 157 passing yards with most of the yardage going to Jr. WR AJ Towsen who caught 8 passes for 116 yards & their lone score.

Matt put the Ford on his back in a dominating win over Germantown Academy.

Malvern Prep 35 Episcopal Academy 21: Malvern jumped out to a 14-0 quick 1st quarter lead before the Churchmen responded with a Narome Rayborn pass to Michael Cadden. Zeke Bates would add 3 rushinng TDs for the Friars in the win.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 34 William Penn Charter 15: The Blue Devils got an outstanding performance from Jr. RB Finn Whittle who filled in for star RB Jayden Sumpter admirably. Finn would rush 26 times for 218 yards & 4 wins in the big win for SCHA. For the Quakers Ohifame Ijeboi rushed for 130 yards & a TD while QB Tom McGlinchey threw for 101 yards & a TD.
