A few takeaways from Roman vs La Salle @Springfield High School, by Will Ryan

  • John Ingram has a solid arm. He has good pocket presence, and knows his job, get the ball to Tyseer Denmark
  • La Salle missed Amir Anderson and Brennan Miller bad today. The safeties for La Salle, namely Carson Wakefield and Mekhi Johnson, missed some opportunities (bad angles and missed INT opportunities)
  • Coach Prete had a clear game plan: get the ball in the hands of Denmark.
  • La Salle looked like they thought they could just play without a clear game plan and Roman proved them wrong.
  • Sam Brown had 20 carries today for 155 yards. He had 1 reception for 18 yards. Why did the La Salle offense not look for Brown in the pass game more?
  • Stevie Davis had 1 touch on offense today. That’s not even close to enough. He is elite bouncing to the outside and La Salle did not utilize him nearly enough.
  • The La Salle defensive line had their first “bad game” where they could not get the push into the backfield that they had gotten in previous weeks. Edge rushers also broke contain often and Howell was able to bounce around and pick up 4 to 5 yards on seemingly every rush.
