Khy Billups leads the charge in the Preps’ victory over Roman Catholic

The Roman Catholic Cahillites hosted Saint Joe’s Prep on the campus of Widener University on Friday night. Here is all the action from that high-scoring nail-biter.

Saint Joe’s Prep started with the ball and wasted no time getting its stars involved, with multiple rushes from Khy Billups and passes from Charlie Foulke to Jett Harrison and Alston Frisbey. The Prep drove deep into Cahillite territory and capitalized on their first drive with a passing TD, Charlie Foulke to Jett Harrison. The Preps’ extra point was no good after taking two false start penalties, moving them back, and the Hawks led 6-0 with 7:49 remaining in the first quarter.

Roman Catholic could get nothing going in their first drive and had to punt it back to the Prep. The Hawks found the endzone once more in drive number two. Alston Frisbey found separation and took the ball into the endzone off a screen pass from Charlie Foulke. The extra point was good this time around, and the Prep led 13-0 with 4:36 remaining in the first quarter.

The Cahillites punted it away once more in their next drive, and the Prep began driving once more.  St Joe’s Prep took it into the red zone and elected to go for it on fourth down. Foulke decided to launch one to Sophomore Jett Harrison, who had two defenders tightly covering him, and the pass fell incomplete.

Akron Commit Semaj Beals and his squad came out looking for anything the Prep gave them, and they found just that. Beals used his arm to fire a deep bomb and find an open receiver in Ash Roberts. Roberts hustled his way in for a score, and Roman Catholic had life. The extra point was good, 13-7 in favor of the Prep.

Following the Cahillites’ first TD of the game, both teams began scoring at a very high rate. Saint Joe’s prep drove the field and handed it off to their star Monmouth commit running back Khy Billups, who broke free and saw the endzone for his first touchdown of the contest. The extra point was good for the Prep, and they lead 20-7 with 6:50 remaining in the first half.

Roman Catholics’ next drive was highlighted mainly by the legs of Semaj Beals. Beals kick-started the drive with a 40-yard rush into Prep territory, and after two straight completions to Eyan Stead, Beals capped off the drive with a rushing touchdown of his own. The extra point was no good, and Saint Joe’s Prep led 20-13 with a little under 5 minutes remaining in the first half.

Saint Joe’s Prep began moving the chains before halftime until Foulke threw an interception, and Roman took over.

Roman Catholic would have to punt on fourth and forty seven but got the ball back on a fumble from the Prep. Roman ran the clock out, and the Prep led 20-13 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Cahillites had the ball and immediately began firing. Semaj Beals found Ryan Stead for a TD very early in the third, and the game was tied 20-20.

Both teams would go scoreless for three drives, starting with a Roman Catholic stop on fourth down, then a blocked Roman punt from the Prep, and finally another huge fourth down stop from the Cahillites. Roman didn’t get anything brewing on their drive following the final fourth down stop and handed it over to the Prep.

Saint Joe’s Prep drove the length of the field, mainly thanks to a huge catch from Alston Frisbey to get it into Cahillite territory. The Prep found themselves down on the one-yard line and ran a classic QB sneak with Charlie Foulke. The extra point was good, and SJP led 27-20 mid fourth quarter.

On the very next drive, Roman Catholic struck back. Semaj Beals to Ash Roberts for a huge touchdown that tied our game up once again.

Neither team would find the endzone again in regulation, with Roman turning over on downs with half a minute remaining and the Prep not being able to do anything with the ball before the horn sounded.

Saint Joe’s Prep started with the ball on the 10 in what would be one of the most chaotic 2OT victories ever.

The Prep ran two rushes to Khy Billups, with the second allowing him to get in the endzone. The extra point was deflected by the Cahillites and wide left, now Roman only needed their extra point to win the ballgame. 33-27 SJP

Roman Catholic saw the endzone on Semaj Beals’ first pass of overtime. Beals found Eyan Stead for the TD, and all they need is the extra point to win the ball game. The first kick was up and good, but the Prep were able to get a timeout and ice the kicker. SJP lined up strong, the kick was up, and blocked! 33-33 heading into 2OT.

Roman would have to go first in 2OT and wasted no time scoring again. Semaj Beals rushed to the one-yard line before rolling out on the very next play and hitting Ash Roberts for the TD. Roman elected to go for two, and it did not pay off. Beals’ pass was incomplete, and the Prep could win it with an extra point of their own.

The Prep was able to set up on the one-yard line following a few plays to start their opening drive of the 2OT. Eyan Stead was called for pass interference on Jett Harrison, allowing the Prep to move up to the one. Foulke handed it off on the next play, and Khy Billups rushed in for the score. Billups had both overtime touchdowns and three total in the game. Now, all the Prep needed was an extra point. Luke Cochrane came set to kick, the snap was good, and the ball was right through the uprights. Saint Joe’s Prep won the football game.
